- TCTrayce CarringtonAug 5, 20262.0I’ve been a loyal customer since my dad retired from here. I haven’t been back since my mom passed 5 years ago. This was our favorite store to shop because of the great sales you have. So I decided to come today! Today was the first time I’ve ever experienced bad customer service. The young man in the children department was very helpful and polite. But then he had to call another associate to come help the lady behind us, which the way she was talking to her was not acceptable whether you’re joking or not. She told him I know you’re ready to go home and the other girl can take over. He says ok. Then he stands behind the young lady to wait for the other young lady to finish with the lady that was behind us. So why did he have to get off the register? Then the lights went out in the store. I assume because it was closing time. After we checked out the young lady cashier told us we had to exit from the salon upstairs and walk around but we were in the children department downstairs where we also parked and not to mention we had a baby and a stroller. If that’s policy that’s unacceptable. Not sure how many other customers they’ve told this but that’s not being considerate of the customer. After we fussed a little bit, she lets us out which she should have done in the first place. Then we looked back and all the lights came back on in the store. This is not how you run a store that’s been in Durham forever.

From the moment I reached the register, she greeted me with a warm smile and made the entire checkout process smooth and pleasant. She handled everything quickly yet carefully, answered my questions clearly, and was genuinely kind throughout. It’s refreshing to meet someone so professional and helpful at the same time. Chaiti truly made my visit better, and I’m very grateful for her excellent service. JCPenney is lucky to have her on the team!
