  I love Alo as a brand, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I was excited to stop by this location to purchase a few more pieces before flying out the next day for an extended work trip. When I walked into the store, an employee approached me and asked, “Can I help you?” Unfortunately, her tone and body language were not welcoming, but I brushed it off and proceeded with my question. I’ve shopped at Alo before and have previously been told that many lifestyle pieces are kept in the back because the planogram doesn’t allow all products to be displayed on the sales floor. After walking around the store, I simply asked if there were any additional items available in the back, as I had been encouraged to ask during previous visits. That’s when the experience took a turn. I was met with an unfriendly attitude and visible side-eye from a female employee who identified herself as the Product Manager. The interaction felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive. After she addressed my question, I said, “Thank you,” and she walked away without acknowledging me. I even said “thank you” a second time, and she looked at me but still chose not to respond. I’ve genuinely never had such an unpleasant retail interaction before, especially at a brand I truly enjoy supporting. Customer service and basic kindness go a long way. This location is much closer and would be far more convenient for me, but after this experience, I’d rather drive out of my way to the North Hills or Charlotte locations any day. I visited on June 14 around 12:45 PM. I hope leadership addresses this because this interaction did not reflect the welcoming, elevated experience Alo promotes as a brand.

  I’m not sure if they earn commission or if they make more money when they make more sales, but the cashier totally took advantage of me when I was on a phone call. She charged me for $138 sweatpants that I most definitely did not buy. The pants are 1. not my size and 2. not a style I wear. This is absolutely unacceptable and I will be sure to tell everyone not to shop here.

  I live a couple hours away, so whenever I’m in RDU vicinity, I treat myself to ALO one or two pieces. I particularly like this location at SoS. The ease of walking around the displays, the neatly folded and organized groups of sets, styles, colors, and the cleanliness of the fitting rooms and the store itself. Always friendly smiling faces when I walk in, and no one stalks or hovers over me. They let me shop. I appreciate that. And someone is available to take items off my hands to hold in the fitting room, so I can continue to peacefully shop. I’m a 60yo grandmother who doesn’t work out but wants to look casually polished and stylish. Customer service and care is top notch—attentive, eager to help find the right sizes and colors, professional, respectful, and very kind. Thank you, ALO Durham, for treating me like a valued customer.
