  Restore has outgrown the people that originally donated and help the company grow and become prosperous. I dropped by to donate some actual antique furniture from my mother in law. I was rudely told that her items were unacceptable to the new Restore. After years of donations Restore has decided to become an upscale and high priced outlet that no longer serves those that are responsible for their success. So...i placed the items on the street in front of my house. They were picked up in 30 minutes and went to people who really needed them. I think that everyone should try this instead of wasting time, gas and muscle loading furniture up just to be turned away. A great alternative to helping restore upper management get rich off our stuff.

  I’ve consistently had better luck finding gently used products at a fair price for their condition at this Restore compared to the other Restores in Wake County but wow some of the staff is so incredibly rude at this location, and I’m not talking about any of the court mandated volunteers either. It’s the paid personnel that seem to love making snarky comments or be outright rude and dismissive to customers. I’ve volunteered at the Cary Restore location in the past and I know for a fact they have a pile of unsellable metal for recycling back behind the store. Just last week I dropped off 20 lbs of rusted paint covered door hinges but today the longer hair male employee in charge of donation intake must have remembered he woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning and decides he wants to be rude and take it out on the customers that are donating free items which is where his source of income originates from. Without even seeing what I had brought to donate he tells me Restore has never accepted metal before in the past, I have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, and for a fact I have never volunteered at the Cary restore before because he’s worked there for 3 years and has never seen me before. (Meanwhile the front of house staff are complaining that I’m back again and that they’ll be seeing me again tomorrow) As I drive off, low and behold, I actually see the lovely gentleman that comes to the Restore to collect the piles of scrap metal for recycling literally 15 feet away collecting said metal! I had a very pleasant conversation with him and handed over the old scrap metal directly to him since the Restore employee wanted to pretend they don’t accept metal for recycling. Instead of donating the remaining items that weren't scrap metal to Restore, I took the rest of my donations to Dorcas next door the next day, and they were delighted to accept my donations - minus the condescending attitude. I figured the toxicity and terrible attitude of some of the employees at this location was a result of the previous general manager and his inability to treat other people with decency and respect, but that guy has been gone for well over a year now and the only thing that’s changed is the store’s layout.
