Be prepared to pay more than the amount you were originally quoted, with little to no explanation for the additional charges. And when you question the unexpected increase or disagree with them, their attitude becomes very rude and unprofessional. Bring a photo ID and proof of residence in the form of a document verifying your address. How do I know if Smart Start's devices are compliant with my program?

What do I need for removal?
Requirements will differ by state, but generally your state authority must grant removal authorization before you can have your IID removed. How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
Can I unplug my Ignition Interlock?
