I am a Level III All Access member and have spent a significant amount of money with Alo over the years, both through the app and in stores across the country. I’ve had excellent experiences at Alo locations including Fashion Valley in San Diego, Michigan Avenue in Chicago, and Westfield Topanga in California.
Unfortunately, the Kansas City location provided the worst customer service I’ve experienced at any Alo store.
The store itself is nice and well maintained, but the service was disappointing. During my visit, four female employees were standing together having a conversation about their plans for the next day while customers browsed the store. Not once did they proactively offer assistance or acknowledge shoppers. When I needed help, I had to walk over and interrupt their conversation, and the interaction felt more like they were doing me a favor than providing customer service.
The one bright spot was the greeter at the front door, who was friendly, welcoming, and actually engaging with customers as they entered. Unfortunately, that level of professionalism was not reflected by the rest of the staff on the sales floor.
Based on my experiences at other Alo locations, I know the company is capable of delivering a much higher standard of customer service. I hope management addresses the lack of customer engagement at this store because it falls far short of what I’ve come to expect from the Alo brand.
