  I went shopping inside Columbia mall at JCPenney getting clothes for an an event I had coming up. They had really good deals on button up dress shirts and dress pants. So i was extremely happy with the discounts they had going on. I got everything I needed and saved almost hundred dollars with the deals they had going on. Customer service was fantastic. They helped me with everything I needed and I had to return one of the shirts. They had no problem with helping me return it and we're extremely nice about it. Overall the experience I had at JCPenney from start to finish was amazing. The deals, customer service, just everything made it an joyful experience and I will definitely be returning there and hope others will too.

  I’m writing this review from the perspective of a small business owner who operated a kiosk at Columbia Mall. If you are considering opening a business here, I strongly recommend reading every part of your agreement very carefully, especially any clauses regarding early revocation or termination, before investing significant money. In my experience, I made business plans based on an agreement that was scheduled through the end of the year. I invested in inventory, traveled to Columbia, hired and trained employees, and even rented housing in Columbia for three months so I could personally be there and stabilize the operation. Shortly after making those arrangements, I received notice that the mall was exercising its right to revoke the agreement early. I was extremely disappointed by the timing because I had just spent significant money preparing the business to continue. We did have staffing difficulties, which I openly acknowledge, but I was actively working to correct them and had already found new employees. I also raised concerns during our time there when similar merchandise began appearing elsewhere in the mall because it was affecting our business. From my perspective, raising legitimate business concerns should be part of a normal landlord-tenant relationship. My biggest advice to other small business owners is this: do not make major housing, staffing, inventory, or other financial commitments based only on the stated end date of the agreement. Read the termination provisions carefully and understand exactly how much notice the mall can give you. I put a lot of time, money, and effort into trying to make this location successful, so the way it ended was very disappointing. I hope management will consider providing clearer communication and more advance transparency to small businesses before they make significant investments.
