I went to a suncatcher class with some friends last night. Romey has a really nice, warm and inviting space. All of the supplies that we needed were very organized and easily accessible. Romey is very good at guiding the class to help the participants achieve a super nice end product whether they are beginners or experienced crafters. I had a great time creating with my friends and meeting some really nice women.

Attended her Kids Valentine Craft Event with my Grandkids and really enjoyed sitting back and watching the kids have fun creating things they were able to bring home. Best thing was they enjoyed the activities Romey planned. It would be great for a birthday party, each child would have a party favor or two to bring home.

Romey had a Kids Day workshop and I brought my grandson. He had so much fun! He painted rocks and made a birdseed ornament. Romey had everything set out and organized. She was awesome with Wyatt. He wanted "Drive and Shine" on his rock, and Romey created that for him. He was so pleased with his projects! If you ever want to bring your kids here, they will love it.. Highly recommended!

Frequently Asked Questions About Design Events with Romey
What types of projects can you make at resin art workshops?
Workshops include trays, coasters, jewelry, and decorative pieces with customizable colors, finishes, and embellishments. All materials and step-by-step instructions are provided so beginners can complete a finished piece during the session. Each project goes home the same day after the resin cures enough to transport safely.
Can you host a crafting party at my house or do I need to come to the studio?
Events work either way—at the Galesburg studio by appointment or at your chosen location, including homes, businesses, or community spaces. Romey travels throughout the Greater Kalamazoo region with all supplies and instruction. Hosting at your location eliminates travel for guests and allows familiar, comfortable surroundings for celebrations.
What's the difference between beach glass projects and mosaic art workshops?
Beach glass projects feature natural glass pieces arranged into suncatchers, frames, or decorative accents that catch light. Mosaic art uses cut glass tiles or mixed materials assembled into patterns on surfaces like trays or wall hangings. Both produce one-of-a-kind pieces but differ in material texture, assembly technique, and finished appearance.
How do wood sign workshops let you personalize the design?
Participants choose colors, finishes, and design elements to customize painted wood decor, laser-cut projects, and seasonal signs. Guided instruction covers painting techniques, stenciling, and finishing so each sign reflects personal style. Projects make thoughtful gifts or home accents because customization happens during the workshop, not from pre-made templates.
What fabric and fiber crafts are offered for beginners?
Workshops include crochet, macrame, textile art, and other fiber-based projects that accommodate beginners through experienced crafters. Projects change seasonally with new creative offerings like handmade gifts, home decor, and personal keepsakes. The supportive group atmosphere encourages learning techniques without prior experience required.
Why would a brewery or coffee shop partner for crafting events?
Ticketed public workshops increase customer traffic during slower hours and create community engagement beyond typical service offerings. Venues benefit from repeat visitors who attend seasonal events and themed workshops, while participants enjoy creative activities in social settings. Partnership events include project selection, all supplies, and instruction without venue staff needing craft expertise.
What makes crafting workshops effective for corporate team building?
Hands-on creative activities encourage collaboration differently than office tasks—teams problem-solve together, share techniques, and produce tangible results in a relaxed environment. Workshops are customized to business goals and group sizes, with all materials provided so planning stays stress-free. Employees leave with finished projects and shared experiences that break usual workplace patterns.
How far in advance should you book a private crafting party?
Booking ahead secures your preferred date and allows time to select projects that match group interests and skill levels. Popular dates for birthdays, bridal showers, and celebrations fill quickly, especially during peak seasons. Early booking also enables custom project planning if your group wants something beyond standard workshop offerings.
What should you expect at your first resin workshop if you've never worked with resin?
The instruction covers resin mixing ratios, pouring techniques, removing bubbles, and adding colors or embellishments before the material sets. Beginners complete functional projects like coasters or trays by following demonstrated steps without prior experience. Finished pieces need additional curing time at home but are stable enough to transport after the workshop ends.
Can you attend public workshops in Kalamazoo or do you need a private group?
Both options exist—private workshops for your selected group at the studio or chosen location, plus ticketed public events through venue partnerships at bars, breweries, wineries, and coffee shops. Public workshops let individuals join scheduled events without organizing a full group. Check upcoming events or book a private session depending on your preference.
What types of suncatcher projects work well for mixed-age family groups?
Beach glass and decorative frame projects accommodate different skill levels within the same workshop since assembly techniques adjust to each participant's ability. Younger family members arrange simpler patterns while experienced crafters create intricate designs, all producing finished suncatchers that catch light beautifully. Everyone works on similar projects without needing separate instruction groups.
How do seasonal workshop offerings change throughout the year?
Project selections rotate to match holidays, weather, and seasonal decor trends—spring suncatchers, summer resin pieces, fall wood signs, and winter fiber crafts appear as options shift. New creative ideas launch regularly based on an entrepreneurial approach to workshop development. Seasonal variety means repeat participants experience different projects rather than the same offerings year-round.
