I purchased a sweater that caught my eye as I was walking past the store. I ended up needing to return it. Because this was my first time ever I didn’t realize they couldn’t look up the receipt with my card. No issue. My issue is when I said I didn’t have my receipt the cashier called the manager over. The manager then asks a few questions before saying they can’t take returns w/o a receipt. I say ok that’s fine. She then asks if I bought the sweater today and I say no and tell her the date based on the other receipt I had from purchases for that day. I asked if it made a difference, but I don’t remember the response but then I left. Then thought about it and went back and asked if I could show her the transaction in my app. She allows me to. Looks through the system and then says she can’t find it or something to that effect. She then tells me she was just curious. She also tells me about their loyalty program and that’s how they can return without a receipt. Just a complete waste of my time. Policy is policy and I’m ok with that. What I’m not ok with is my time being wasted to have a manager have to tell me that after asking several irrelevant questions out of curiosity. I have no desire to join a loyalty program for a store that I’m returning the only thing I’ve ever purchased. Nor for a company that trains so poorly on how to execute policy resulting in my time being wasted. I found my receipt and returning the product now and I won’t ever bother going in to an Aerie ever again. Word of advice to the store. Don’t waste customer’s time just state your policy instead of wasting 15-20 minutes of a customer’s time being curious as to when they made the purchase. Also, if the original cashier would’ve told me about their policy for returns and the benefit of joining I would’ve have and been more inclined to actually shop there based off the good customer service. It’s 2026, they absolutely have the capacity to take returns linked to the card they were purchased with. If they choose not to that’s fine, but it’s absolutely a deterrent after having a poor experience.

Came in to return a pair of slippers that were unfortunately too small. The young lady who processed my transaction, Skyler, asked what the reason for my return was, & after telling her they were too small, she asked if I wanted to exchange for a different size. I let her know that unfortunately I had ordered the largest size they made. Skyler then processed my return with no issue.
I browsed the store for a bit & found some items that I wanted to try on. While in the fitting room, I overheard Skyler talking to another employee. I did not catch how the conversation started, I did hear her say, “I asked her if she wanted to exchange and she told me no because she ordered the biggest size - it’s not my fault you have big ass feet.” I immediately froze, in disbelief of what I heard, as I had not been rude to Skyler, simply giving an honest answer to the question I was asked. I decided to exit the fitting room & ask to speak with Skyler. When Skyler approached me, I told her next time she wanted to talk shit about a customer, to make sure the customer was out of earshot. I told her what she said was rude, disrespectful, and uncalled for. When speaking with her, Skyler clearly was annoyed, as she continuously rolled her eyes at me. I let her know what I would not be making a purchase despite finding items I like, due to her inappropriate comments, and I’d be calling customer service to complain. Skyler was rude, unprofessional, and is an embarrassment to what Aerie as a brand stands for.

Absolutely zero customer service this afternoon, not to mention a greeting. I couldn't find my size (medium) on a stacked table display and rather than help, the store associate ignored me and clearly exhibited a nasty attitude because she had to fix the display. I stopped shopping and left with nothing. As a first time shopper, the lack of assistance and feeling unwelcome turned me off to the shop completely. Even as a former retail employee, I cannot relate to this type of behavior.
