I visited the Lane Bryant at Bowie Town Center (Store #6917) on June 28, and I can honestly say it was one of the best retail experiences I’ve ever had.
I don’t normally enjoy shopping at Lane Bryant because I’ve always felt that many of the styles weren’t quite my taste. As a full-figured woman, shopping for clothes and bras can already be frustrating enough, so I usually walk in, buy what I need, and leave. That was my plan this time too.
The moment I walked through the doors, everything changed.
India greeted me with such genuine warmth that I immediately felt at ease. She has one of those personalities you simply can’t teach. She made every customer feel seen, celebrated, and beautiful. There is something truly magnetic about her. She brought so much joy and energy into the store, and you could tell she genuinely loves what she does. I’ve never met anyone in retail quite like her.
While India was helping another customer with a bra fitting, Kristle stepped in to help me. She was patient, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. I didn’t even realize she was new because of how confident and professional she was. She encouraged me to try on dresses, and to my surprise, she found beautiful, youthful styles that I never would have picked for myself. They looked amazing on me. It honestly felt like I was getting a makeover.
While I was waiting, Miss Valerie noticed me without me having to ask for help. Even though she was already assisting another customer, she warmly stepped in and helped me find bras that fit perfectly. She had such a kind, motherly spirit that immediately put me at ease. Watching the way she cared for both me and her other customer at the same time spoke volumes about the kind of person she is.
What impressed me just as much was how this team worked together. There were no egos, no attitudes, and no competition. They stepped in wherever they were needed, supported one another, and made every customer feel important.
🌟Representation matters, but the greatest representation is a heart that serves everyone equally.⭐️
I’ve lived in places where diversity was lacking, and I’ve also shopped in Lane Bryant stores where, in my experience, I didn’t always feel equally comfortable or equally welcomed. Walking into the Bowie location was completely different.
I watched white customers come in, Hispanic customers come in, Black customers come in, and every single person was greeted with the same warmth, enthusiasm, patience, and genuine desire to help. No one appeared to receive preferential treatment. Every customer was celebrated, encouraged, complimented, and made to feel like they mattered. That was beautiful to witness.
This experience reminded me of what you hope for when you’re shopping for a wedding dress or a prom dress. You want women who are genuinely excited for you, who celebrate you, help you see yourself at your best, and make the experience fun instead of stressful. That’s exactly how India, Kristle, and Miss Valerie made me feel. When I get married one day, I hope I have a team like them helping me find my wedding dress.
I walked in expecting to buy one bra. I walked out with multiple bras, beautiful dresses, and one of the largest purchases I’ve ever made at Lane Bryant because these women completely changed my shopping experience.
Thank you, India, Kristle, and Miss Valerie. You didn’t just help me shop. You made me feel seen, beautiful, confident, and valued.
I only wish every retail store had a team like yours.
