AWFUL experience at Plato’s Closet in Waltham and won’t be returning.
The store was a mess the moment I walked in. There were clothes all over the floor, piles stacked almost to the ceiling, and no sense of organization whatsoever. It honestly felt chaotic and uninviting.
I brought in one bag of barely worn, high-quality plus-size clothing from brands like Abercrombie, Lululemon, Free People, Urban Outfitters, SKIMS, etc. The older male employee who helped me was rude from the start, telling me to lay everything out on the counter and sorting the “yes” and “no” piles right in front of me. I understand that’s part of the buying process, but his attitude made the interaction feel dismissive and uncomfortable.
What really shocked me was the offer: $18 for around 15 excellent-condition items, including jeans and matching sets. I was honestly speechless. Meanwhile, I looked around the store and saw outdated, stained, damaged, and very limited plus-size inventory being sold for $12 or more per item. It made absolutely no sense.
What makes it even more disappointing is that this is the closest Plato’s Closet to the Boston area. I expected this location to be one of the better stores, not by far the worst I’ve ever visited.
I’ve sold to several other Plato’s Closet locations over the years, and I’ve never had an experience this bad. Between the disorganized store, poor customer service, disappointing inventory, and unbelievably low payout, this location was a huge letdown. I won’t be coming back, and I’d recommend driving to another Plato’s Closet instead.
