*Abysmal Customer Service, Zero Communication, and Broken Contracts* I had a terrible experience consigning fine art with Neal Auction Company. I consigned a large painting with an estimated value of $1,500–$2,500 and a $1,000 agreed reserve. In the first auction, bidding reached $950—just $50 short of the reserve—yet they never contacted me or gave me the option to accept that bid. After that, communication completely broke down. Months passed without hearing from them, only to discover they went ahead and re-auctioned the painting for a meager $375—essentially selling my artwork without my knowledge or consent. To make matters worse, Section 3 of their signed Consignment Agreement guarantees that if property is sold below reserve, the seller still receives net proceeds based on the original reserve price. I never signed any amendment or accepted any changes removing the reserve, yet they refused to honor our contract. When I reached out to dispute this, their customer service proved to be horrific. I sent a formal email nearly a week ago, along with leaving multiple phone messages, and have been completely ignored. Be extremely careful consigning items here. Their communication is non-existent, their customer service is terrible, and they do not stand by their written agreements.

Decent auction house the only thing I would recommend is being a phone bidder or being present. I lost a lot due to bidding online and the my bid was tied to another bidder; but I did manage to get the lamp I wanted. Thanks for the staff that helped me load this rug into my car it looked great at the wedding.

I am obsessed with Neal Auction gallery and have been watching, buying and coming to N.O.s often to take part in the fun. I’m never disappointed with their inventory (only losing out on pieces I really want,) or the diligence they show in creating a fair and efficient auction experience.
