I am very concerned about the working and shopping conditions at Citi Trends located at 6613 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70003. During my visit, the outside temperature was around 91°F, and the inside of the store was extremely hot. Employees were using multiple plug-in fans with the doors closed in an attempt to keep the store cool. There appeared to be only a small portable air-conditioning unit trying to cool a large retail space. The conditions were uncomfortable for customers and concerning for the employees who must work entire shifts in that environment. I asked an employee about the situation and was told it was a building issue. Whether the responsibility falls on the building owner or the company, employees and customers should not be subjected to excessive heat, especially during a Louisiana summer. This is a health and safety concern. Heat-related illness is a real risk in these conditions. I am concerned that an employee or customer could become sick if this issue is not addressed. The staff members were polite and doing their best, but they deserve a safe and properly air-conditioned workplace. I hope Citi Trends corporate and property management take immediate action to correct this problem.
