So I switched here, as I had a friend who spoke highly of this specific location. They were able to remove my interlock from the previous company. Definitely not a standard thing, but they were able to work with me. (as I did not want my car touched by the previous provider again.) And installed a new device. It was fast and easy. And more importantly they were kind to me! Kayla and Ron are awesome, and it's refreshing to see people in this bisnuess who want to make their customer experience as painless as possible. How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
