Went to buy shoes for me and the family for back to school shopping and thought it was going to be fun and enjoyable...turns out it was not, it was the complete opposite sadly and very, very disappointing. The girl Kylie the was "helping" us you could tell wanted to be anywhere but there, she was aloof, dismissive, passive, and generally not helpful when you needed attention or information. Asking about sizes or brands to compare was a "you know" and "I don't know." I don't mind and kinda expected not to have most shoes exactly in my size/width and I can make due just to get an idea so we can order them, I am a patient person so I don't mind waiting on things, but waiting on Kylie to come around after disappearing was tragic. We gave up and left and just going to order our shoes online or patron another store. I am sorry to say that Scheel's lost our business today after I was prepared to be buying and it makes me rethink coming back in for my business next time and just staying home and ordering online. Sorry and sad day for us when we started on such a happy note.

I had inquired about a preowned .556 rifle. I passed all the paperwork I’d filled out but denied the gun purchase. They said “they perceived the situation & didn’t feel right about the gun purchase because of the company I had with me.” I’d asked to speak to the manager & the guy walked off from me. Profiling at its best!

Normally super excited to go to Scheels. While we still love the place. I’m done buying my kids shoes there. About a year ago we got my toddler her first shoes from there. They were pink and white Nikes. After getting home we noticed that the bottom of one of them had a manufacturer defect. The rubber on the bottom of the shoe was completely warped. There was no way the Scheels employee did not notice this. Fast forward to today we go to get shoes for all three of our kids and walked out only with one pair because they had no shoes in my son’s size and could not order them. The only shoes I found that worked for my toddler were dirty. The employee did not care at all. The place was a three ring circus with the amount of people in there and the lack of urgency to help everyone trying to get their kids shoes. The whole situation was frustrating.

Website said a product was available so I gambled my night on a visit. Circled the embarrassingly tiny camping section for 15 minutes and couldn't find a single employee. Wandered over to archery and waited another ten minutes for the other employee that the Archery employee called for help. When the other guy showed up we went back to where I had been looking... And we proceeded to again circle the tiny camping section for another 10 minutes because this employee knew about as much as I did about the Scheels camping section.... I appreciate him trying but it was really frustrating finally finding help but then the help was no help at all. I felt bad because it was as if none of the Scheels employees had been trained to find stuff. Finally another guy showed up and they said they would go check their back room. About 10 minutes later another guy came and asked me if they had helped me yet and I said no. He then tells me that due to an inventory management issue they didn't know where they were. He said they were in the store somewhere they just didn't know where. It was mind-blowing to me that multiple employees including a manager could not find an item.
By the time it was all said and done the store was closing, and I was out of options.
Left disappointed and frustrated. This is why I don't shop scheels. Its always so hard to get help and when you do it sometimes feels like Walmart, where none of the employees are really trained to know the products, they just bumble around like any other customer hoping they see it.
I don't blame the employees but man, Scheels is definitely not the top tier store they masquerade as.
Really sucked to be told "we have it but you can't buy it".
