  I usually love going in Mar Del, but today we went in and had a slew of odd encounters. We came at 09:00 so we’re there when they unlock the doors. The guy who opened the doors unlocked them, turned his back and walked away. I’d expect that pretty much anywhere else. But not here. We got in the store and we were greeted but that guy who unlocked the door couldn’t be bothered. Was it wrong that he didn’t greet us? No. Just weird. Started heading back to the Bibles and we were greeted by Larry, who asked us if we were looking for anything in particular. We told him we were looking to buy a Bible and he said great! That’s my section! I’ll be right there! Very helpful. Very enthusiastic! Very- what I’d expect from this type of store. I’m browsing the Bibles and here comes Larry, like he said he would. He asked if we needed help finding a particular one. We kinda knew what we wanted so he went on to help another customer. After we made our selection, I made it a point to tell Larry thank you! We leave the Bible section and go to the counter where they do the engraving. The cashier at the check out asked us if we were ready to check out and we said we wanted the Bible engraved and she let us know they had to be paid for first. So we went over and she rang us up. She proceeds to tell us THREE additional times that we have to pay first. My husband and I looked at each other and he help three fingers up. Is this wrong? No. Just weird. So the cashier calls out a code 9 and we go over and pick out the engraving styles. The lady doing that tells us that it’s gonna be about 5-10 min. So we go back into the shopping area at the front of the store. She came to us with a sample of how our selections would look and we were agreeable. A little bit later, I see the young lady chatting with a coworker outside of the engraving area so I go to the area and my Bible is sitting there with the engraving done and the lid partway open so I can see it. I know it’s done but I catch her attention to ask anyway because I want her to know that I got it. Is it wrong that she came and found me to ask me to approve the engraving but she just left my $70 Bible sitting there while she walked away and didn’t tell me it was done? No. Just weird. After all of this, my husband and I leave and we’re followed to the door by another employee we hadn’t encountered. She just followed us. Didn’t say anything. Just watched us. Is this wrong? Well this last one prompted a call to the manager, who had an excuse for everything. He’s never had a complaint about that cashier. That was Larry who opened the door. No it wasn’t. He, manager, said hi when we came in. Yeah but the other guy was face to face with us unlocking the door and didn’t say anything. Just turned his back and walked away. The lady who followed us? She didn’t leave the store and if she thought you were stealing, I would have been notified and I wasn’t. I bought this Bible for someone special to me who previously had been very vocal about his unbelief but recently has maybe come around to considering that there is a God. How different his path might be if he had encountered this most unfriendly and weird behavior today.

  Never opened bible told them I was out of gas and they said they would only do store credit smdh um yeah ur a what a faith based organization
