Plato's Closet buys and sells gently used clothing, shoes, sneakers, accessories and athletic wear for teens and young adults in Bloomington. Sell styles you no longer wear for cash on the spot, or shop thrifted, secondhand, and resale fashion, including trendy, brand-name styles for less. With 500+ independently owned and operated locations across the U.S. and Canada, fresh inventory arriving daily, Plato's Closet makes thrifting easy, affordable, and more sustainable.
I love this particular Plato's because it always has a wide variety of styles and they are constantly getting in new items. Highly recommend going for shoes and bags! The staff is always friendly and the music is always a vibe.

I am totally okay with things I bring in not being in style or not what they’re buying at the moment, but what happened was much worse. I came in Friday around 2 and they said they weren’t buying anything else that day, which was fine. Came back in Saturday at opening and dropped off 3 bins. I went to two of my son’s baseball tournaments and my youngest was injured and I had to take him to urgent care. I called at 2 pm to tell them I wouldn’t make it to pick up that day, but I could pick up first thing the next morning. They assured me it was fine and they write a note with my bins and would make a one time exception. I was very relieved and thankful after a hard and stressful day. The next day I was still home with my youngest who was recovering while my husband went to pick up my bins first thing. They informed him they had donated my items bc they hadn’t been picked up that day. He explained we had an emergency and they had approved holding everything to the next day, but they claimed they hadn’t and they donated 3 large bins of things bc I didn’t pick them up that day. Not sure who I talked to that was so helpful and caring and then to be told all of my things were gone the next day, but makes me want to never go there again bc they don’t provide any empathy or human decency.

Probably will never try to donate here again. Went and looked the day before and there were barely any shorts on sale yet they didn’t take any of my shorts which were not stained or worn or anything like that. They took the one item which was actually worn with threads coming out of it. Their process of deciding which clothes to take is so arbitrary and not customer friendly. I understand if there is a surplus of clothes at this moment but not taking any of that is crazy. Also they were only sorting through my stuff for less than 3 minutes and I had a lot of stuff packed in the box I brought so I find it hard to believe they actually looked through everything. Will be taking my clothes to Goodwill because I know my stuff will sell there immediately. It really seems like they just looked at me and decided not to take my clothes. I will be taking my business elsewhere from here on out.

The cashiers were really nice to me. I brought in clothing to sell and they didn't take any of it, which is fine. I live 20 minutes away which sucks on my end but when I came back my clothes were unfolded and just crammed into the bag (I know its a busy time of year but it's not kind to do to other people's thingsyou're not buying). I think most people would have better luck on online platforms when selling.

Very immature staff that gossip and as long as you can tune out the negativity about each other and customers and things like that you might be able to find a good deal. I force myself to go if they have like a 50% off or 75% off sale but other than that its not my taste.
