No employees available for assistance. Handicap accessible fitting room locked and unavailable AGAIN! Left all potential purchases in a pile since they were not interested in my business.

Came into store as any other customer a few weeks ago and when I was done shopping I paid for my items. When I was leaving outside I was stopped by who I can only assume is a manager and was told I need to “give back the shirt I stole” I told him I did no such thing. he then proceeded to grab me by the shirt and would not let me leave. They call the police and this lady came outside and told them that she had seen me stealing on the camera which was not true. I can only assume I was being racially profile me and the kind officer walked upstairs to where they claimed I had stolen a T-shirt, and it was proven that I never stole anything. As a matter of fact, I have no idea why they would assume I stole anything considering that well I didn’t steal anything, but this lady and her subordinate claimed that I did they stopped me. They wasted my time. Meanwhile, I was just trying to shot. I believe I was being watched on the camera simply because I was a young black man in a store. I do have lawyers involved in this and when I was leaving, they refuse to give me their names I have tried to contact corporate about this as well, so I’m leaving a review hopefully to get some type of response from JCPenney. I can send a video to an email as well if needed of the incident that I recorded on my phone This is defamation and this is racial discrimination at its peak. It is 2026. It is ridiculous. We are still going through this as a society.

I've been a JCPenney Shopper since 1984. It is a wonderful store. With quality merchandise. I loved it when I heard that the new generation is now looking to go to malls instead of shopping online. It gives me hope that JCPenney and others will still be around for a long time to come. It also gives me hope that young people will find what we had in spending time with each other and staying off the phones. Never did any Black Friday shopping until I did it once with my youngest son at the North Riverside store. It was a shopping experience that we repeated multiple years because we had so much fun. The only place we went was to JCPenney. And we had a ball at something like 3:00 a.m. They were extremely welcoming. I never knew what it was. Never even heard of it until I was like 40 something. I hope more people enjoy JCPenney. I now shop at the Lombard store and I'm loving that store as well. Used to buy all my furniture at JCPenney as it was only quality. However the Young Generation just coming up now is finding the value in shopping together at a mall without the phones actually looking at each other and talking and experiencing the mall experience. Which I hope continues. So that it will revive the malls, revive the stores, and continue giving people jobs. Some of the best memories that do not come through a computer or a phone. I love my JCPenney!

We had Mari as our photographer in the JCPenney Portraits by Lifetouch studio. She was very thorough and guided us through the process, asking questions to make sure she understood our goals for the session. We took headshots for our firm’s website, and she was very patient, taking tons of photos for us to choose from. She was accommodating, very honest/direct, and transparent. I appreciated having Mari as our photographer!

I tried calling this location 3 times, the operator and the men's department but no one answered. This was an hour after they opened. It’s JC Penny on a weekday morning so I know they are not busy. I wanted to do an exchange since it’s been under 60 days and I have the receipt. The items are in new condition but no tags. I know they can easily put new tags on since it requires no skill at all. 1 star for poor customer service. Better off going to Kohl’s.
