I previously shared my experience regarding this incident, but after the business publicly responded, I feel it is important to address several things they themselves confirmed. In their response, the business acknowledged that the incident occurred, admitted that the staff member who accused me and demanded payment was “out of line,” and stated that staff required additional training afterward. That alone speaks volumes about how this situation was handled. I was publicly accused of damaging an item that I repeatedly stated I did not break. The situation escalated to the point where I was told police would be called if I did not pay. During the incident, multiple individuals surrounded me while I was visibly distressed and crying. Instead of the situation being calmly de-escalated, I was left feeling humiliated, intimidated, and emotionally overwhelmed. I later attempted to contact management in hopes of resolving the matter appropriately. However, rather than feeling reassured as a customer, I was contacted by an attorney after posting about my experience. Regardless of intent, that added additional pressure and distress to an already upsetting situation. The business confirmed that the employee’s conduct was inappropriate and serious enough to require retraining afterward. Customers deserve to be treated respectfully, professionally, and fairly. Based on my experience, I did not feel protected, respected, or treated with basic compassion during this incident.

I am glad they are closed down for now. I had a really horrible experience there one day at the antique mall. There was a broken doll on the floor, and one of the staff members kept following me and asked if I was the one who broke it. I told them no, but then two staff members continued following me around, demanding that I pay for it and threatening to call the police. Their behavior was very intimidating, and I ended up crying in front of them while asking them to stop treating me that way. I truly felt profiled and discriminated against during the entire situation. Afterward, I posted a Google review and tried many times to contact the manager, but my calls never resolved anything. Eventually, their lawyer contacted me and asked me to remove the review, saying they would have the staff go through training. However, that did not resolve the harm that was done, because the experience left me traumatized.update: Thank you for acknowledging that the staff member was out of line. However, I still stand by my experience and the way the situation affected me. Regardless of whether some of the people involved were staff or not, I was still surrounded, followed, intimidated, and accused of breaking something I did not break. Being threatened with the police over something I did not do was extremely distressing. I did try many times to contact management because I wanted my concerns to be taken seriously. From my perspective, I felt dismissed and unheard, and that frustration is why I became emotional during those conversations. This experience left a lasting impact on me, and I felt racially profiled throughout the situation. Using the police and later involving an attorney against a customer over a small broken doll that was probably worth less than five dollars felt completely unnecessary and intimidating to me. Instead of making me feel heard or supported, it made me feel pressured and afraid for simply trying to defend myself and share my experience. While I understand you say staff training took place, the attorney contacting me to remove my review did not feel supportive to me. It felt intimidating, especially because I was simply sharing my honest experience as a customer. I am sharing my perspective truthfully, and I believe customers have the right to speak about experiences that affected them.
