  Love this store!! Every art supply imaginable, or so it seems. Novelty gifts and toys too - very fun experience. Every skill level can find what they need.

  Framing department review. I've been a customer of this location for over 17 years as a full-time artist. I am crushed by how disappointing my framing experience was. Shame on me I guess for trusting whatever college intern they are using to do the actual framing work, but i had what i thought was an excellent initial planning experience with Jack. They assured me he understood the value and importance of framing a cross stitch that took my wife 3 years to complete. They made me comfortable with Blick handling an heirloom quality artpiece that required flattening of the aida cloth to correct a crooked-looking border--a thing i began myself at home but didn't finish, assuming theyd certainly correct it when mounting and matting the piece and i was willing to pay to get it done professionally as i understand the value of a professional artist. Nope. Somehow the initial curved line is worse than when i brought it in and the side lines are somehow now also crooked. whoever mounted the aida cloth under the matt did a terrible job and clearly does not understand how to mount and matt cross stitch--the nearness of the matt board makes the crooked line look worse--like the cross-stitcher messed up, when really it was the lazy mounting of the cross stitch that was pulled crooked. I am legit confused how anyone with a creative eye thought the job as completed looked good. To be fair, Jack said they'd do their best with no promise of a straight border(my effort at home led me to think a competent framer could handle it) but it turns out "their best" is even less square than what i dropped off. quite honestly, as a full-time working artist that paid the high cost for this service(over $300), id have at least expected a call saying "hey we cant get this line straight" before matting and sealing it in a custom frame. i'm not sure who would be happy putting their name on that job without speaking with the customer at least. I know Jack was on site as i called after not hearing back from them that my piece was finished and they answered, but instead of bringing the finished piece out and finalizing my experience, a random counter employee did the job. (I suspect because Jack was embarrassed he charged me over $300 for the incompetent work. The counter employee that gave me the finished work was speechless as to how to make my experience any better, short of throwing Jack under the bus by repeatedly offering to "get Jack", apparently so he could also catch my shade from not being able to to anything about the terrible job. At the very least, it would've been nice to refund the labor cost since i now need to cut open the garbage framejob to do it properly myself. Don't pay an artist to do something you can do better yourself, i guess. How incredibly depressing to say that, but what an incredibly disappointing experience. It's soul-crushing to know there are artists working in the framing department at this art store that think they did good work here. i thought i'd rather take this important piece to an art store than a frameshop, but i will certainly never do that again. Disappointed and sad i cannot trust artists at blick. What should have led to a happy moment has turned into an shameful, apologetic, disappointment that leaves me $300 out of pocket with probably two hours of unpaid labor of my own to correct the issue. Don't take framing work here. they don't care. (before and after pictures to come) I guess it's time to change my art supply vendor too. This is why brick and mortar shops are closing. It's not price, it's lack of care about the experience of the customers that take the time to travel to your brick and mortar because they WANT to support a brick and mortar store--even when that brick and mortar is just an arm of a faceless corp like blick. Good riddance.

  Was told to come back the next day because there was a sale, came the next day when I could and was told I was not able to be helped with what I needed. Waste of time

  We’re immediately helpful with me finding a pre-set kit for a college course at NEIU. Very kind and had multiple employees check on me as I perused the store.
