I went back to this toy store after 20+ years of going to it as a kid with my dad when I moved back and can I just say it has not changed a bit. The store is clean, customer service amazing, and product selection to die for. One thing I will say about this store is it has always been directed towards families and people of all ages no matter what and it is still that way to this day! They also have a play space as well to try the toys like barnes and noble which is nice.

Love this store and all of the low-tech toys that inspire creativity. This is my first stop for a gift or to check for a toy for birthdays or holidays. Love how friendly the staff are and the variety of items at the shop.

This toy store avoids the highly commercial trends of the moment, and so specializes in what it considers the more "timeless" fare, hence its name. Of course, sometimes you are buying "timeless" toys and would still like to throw in a few of those trends, so it is a pity the store won't typically have them there, saving you a trip to Target, which will. Nonetheless, this is a magical store, one of the best in Chicago: they have the timeless Fifteen Puzzle, timeless Etch-A-Sketch, and other manual puzzles. I work with children and so I shop here often. Children lost in electronic games still love those "timeless" toys, in fact they are not having a real childhood without them. Another specialty at this store is the revolving rack of hand puppets - I have bought tons for children in the 2-6 age range. For children with or without emotional issues, puppets are imaginative, cuddly, soothing, and like friends. There is a large selection of Legos but they are typically the ones that construct vehicles from movies -it would be nice if they had the basic starting kit. Tons of cars here, tons of art materials, tons of little figurines, tons of really small toys, tons of trains, tons of books. Those are the toys I go for the most but there is oh so much more. This is the kind of store that our city needs, one that fuels play, imagination, and wonder!
