  I have extensive experience using BAIID devices and understand exactly how they function. Prior to LifeSafer, I used an Intoxalock device for well over a year without a single violation, lockout, missed rolling retest, failed breath sample, or alcohol-related issue. During that entire period, I successfully completed every required test and calibration without incident. The problems described in this complaint did not begin until the LifeSafer device was installed on April 22, 2026. To be clear, this complaint is not related to alcohol consumption. The device consistently accepts my breath sample when starting the vehicle, demonstrating that I am providing an adequate breath sample and that the device is capable of accepting it. The failures occur during rolling retests after the vehicle is already operating. At that point, the device frequently rejects valid breath samples, records violations, and generates lockouts. At no time has anyone explained why a breath sample that is acceptable at startup suddenly becomes unacceptable during a rolling retest. The facts also do not support alcohol as the cause of these violations. Following my May 27, 2026 service appointment in Elmhurst, I drove the vehicle home, parked it, and did not drive, start, or move it for approximately nine days. Despite the vehicle remaining unused, I later discovered another lockout date and was informed that I remained in violation. It is difficult to understand how I could be responsible for a violation during a period in which the vehicle was not being operated. Given my prior successful experience with another BAIID provider, the absence of any similar history before LifeSafer, the fact that the device accepts startup tests but repeatedly fails during rolling retests, and the continued issues occurring even after service appointments and calibrations, I believe these violations are the result of equipment, calibration, installation, servicing, or account-management issues rather than any failure on my part to comply with program requirements
