Title: Absolute financial scam and dangerous equipment. Avoid!
Avoid Low Cost Interlock at all costs. They lure you in with a low quote, but their pricing is completely dishonest. It feels like every three months they find some new hidden fee to tack onto your bill, and the price just keeps creeping up.
Worse than their monthly $86 base rate is the pure extortion at the service shop. Every single time you have to get your device's data downloaded or calibrated, the shop charges close to $50. Because the device is incredibly faulty and falsely fails you for no reason, you get forced into early recalls constantly. I ended up having to pay that $50 fee 2 to 3 times in a single month just to reset the machine from its own glitches!
The equipment itself is dangerously broken and almost ruined my life. While driving on the road, the device would prompt me for a rolling retest, and the second I would go to blow into it, the entire unit would just completely power off. Because it shut down mid-test, the system maliciously registered that I "refused" the test, putting my driver's license at serious legal risk.
The device also regularly stuttered and flickered when starting the car. The screen would stay completely black on my end, so I had no idea what was happening, while the computer secretly registered a "prompt." Because I couldn't see the screen to take it, it logged me as a failure. On top of that, it falsely locked me out entirely claiming I was "highly intoxicated," only for me to blow a perfect 0.0% the exact second the lockout cleared. This left me stranded multiple times, forcing me to pay for tows and call for rides at 3:00 AM.
To make matters worse, I just found out from a reputable competitor that Low Cost Interlock was running a GPS locator 24/7 on my device—which isn't even required by Idaho law. It completely murdered my car's electrical system, and I had to buy two brand-new batteries in a single year because of it.
When you try to call customer service or email them for help, nothing happens. They won’t call you back, and they completely ignore your emails. On the rare occasion they do respond, all they do is swap out the broken device for another broken device, and the exact same nightmare keeps happening over and over again. To top it off, their third-party installers tapped into the wrong wires, leaving me with permanent electrical damage.
Save yourself the legal risk, the towing bills, the endless fees, and the mechanical damage. Go with literally anyone else. This place is trash.
