  We visited the store to purchase hunting boots for my wife and were told someone would be right with us. After waiting forty minutes with no assistance, we eventually found the items ourselves. When we reached the checkout, we informed Phil that we wanted to purchase a gift card to pay for our merchandise. He scanned all of our items, only to tell us at the very end that we had to go back to the back of the line to pay with a gift card—a policy that makes very little sense. As local customers trying to support a community business, this level of service and lack of communication was extremely frustrating. We let Phil know that this experience has made us reconsider ever shopping here again.

  Well, just moved here from Alaska and one thing has remained consistent across multiple sportsmans. The gun counter sucks. Walked in, asked dude about a certain gun that had some tech he'd never heard of before, then he proceeded to nerd out on that on the computer while I just kind of stood around waiting for him to do whatever. So I'm like uhh I guess I'll go see if they have this red dot separate...(No response, still glued to computer needing out I guess. Then another dude walks up and he jumps in to help this guy who then proceedes to ask about gun after gun after gun, all the while I'm just standing there....... So whatever It's fine. I think I've seen the pattern enough times to stop giving sportsman's my money.

  30-Day return policy and you must present the actual card used to purchase. Why should I come back, when every other sporting good store has a better policy?

  Sportsman’s advertises that they price match, but every time I’ve tried to use that policy at this location, it turns into a huge ordeal. Most recently, I bought a pair of ear protection that qualified for a price match. What should have been a simple transaction turned into about 45 minutes of employees going back and forth and “talking to the manager” before they finally approved it. I’ve had essentially the same experience trying to price match shotgun ammo in the past. My buddy also experiences this, so I know I'm not the only person experiencing this. If you’re going to advertise a price-match policy, I shouldn’t be made to feel like I am asking for some special. Either honor the policy without making it a hassle every time, or stop advertising it. I’ve always loved Sportsman’s and would prefer to shop there, but this particular location is a giant pain in the neck. It honestly feels like they’re trying to convince me to shop somewhere else. SCHEELS also price matches and, even though they’re a little farther from my house, at some point the drive is easier and faster than spending 45 minutes trying to get Sportsman’s to honor its own advertised policy.
