Love that I can get used or full price books at a great rate. You can also find music (CDs, cassettes, records) sold here too. I love the used books sold here because you can find some rare and unique stuff.

Fair buy for trade ins, and I appreciate that they donate any books they don't buy. Well-organized stacks for shopping.

I’ve shopped at this Half Price Books for years, and the staff has always been wonderful. Today’s encounter with the manager was rude, unprofessional, and enough to make me reconsider returning. Another employee confirmed that she was the manager: short brown hair with what appeared to be red highlights underneath, a black face mask, a burgundy sweater, and black-and-white checkered pants. We visited with a group of children, including two little ones, ages 2 and 1, who were squealing, giggling, and chasing each other in the children’s area. This lasted only a few minutes, and we were actively trying to quiet them down. The manager stomped over and told us to make them quiet. We apologized and explained that we were already working on it. Instead of showing even basic courtesy, she responded, “Yeah, because it’s a lot,” and walked away. As if that interaction wasn’t unpleasant enough, I then overheard her speaking negatively about our children to another employee while we were checking out. That is unacceptable. I understand addressing noise in a bookstore. I do not understand treating customers with contempt after they have apologized and are already responding to the situation. There was absolutely no reason for the attitude or the comments to another employee. This is the person HPB has chosen to put in charge? After years of shopping here, I’m angry and deeply disappointed. Your customers deserve basic respect, and your manager should be setting that example. Shame on you, HPB and shame on your child of a “manager”. She threw a bigger fit than the toddlers.

There are some really great finds for amazing prices. The workers seem to be introverts that would rather be home reading, but the customers seemed that way too.
