  Katie (Katherine), working the register June 23rd 2026 at 2:50 PM needs some education regarding customer service skills. I ran in the Boise store to make a quick exchange on some shoes I received as a birthday gift. I approached the register with the correct size asking for a quick exchange. I had the original receipt and tags on the shoes that I was exchanging for the exact pair (one size up). I was not greeted to begin with. I was fine with this, I understand some people are grieving inside, or having a bad day, no problem. I proceeded to tell her I just needed a bigger size, that I wanted to do an exchange. She asks slightly irritated, if the shoes were worn. I said no, they are the wrong size and do not fit. She says it has to be a return and repurchase. She pushes the return through to the visa of the person that gifted me the shoes for my birthday. Rather than giving me an option of return to gift card or cash. So I explained it was a birthday gift I don't have the original visa card. She calls her manager over, asks the manager if she can void the transaction for her because I didn't tell her in time what I needed. Even though I walked up to the register with two pairs of shoes, one being an exchange. Most companies want you to attempt to exchange rather than refund anyway, so I could not understand why she had to process a refund? When that's not what I asked for. Maybe education on customer greeting, listening skills, exchange vs return. Lying regarding the situation in front of me. (Work with the customer as a team not against them). The line grew rather long during this process, unnecessarily when all this could of been avoided. She did not thank me for my service, make eye contact, just handed me my bag annoyed. I went in there happy with my little boy, not trying to cause any issues and left frustrated. I told her in the future telling the truth will save her some time. She said loudly, "Have a nice day ma'am."

  I needed to do a return and the girl was really dismissive and rude about it. I said I wanted my money back and she told me the only return she can do is in store credit. Be careful with your money.

  Cindy the manager of the floor department, was deeply unprofessional. Surprised Nordstrom puts someone with a terrible attitude like hers in charge. DO BETTER.
