This is the third time I have visited the “fly shop” and haven’t been able to find any help. I was ready to buy some new line and a few flys. I brought my reel in to have them spool it up (One of the perks of an in store visit) I stood around at the counter with the new line and some flys for a few minutes. No help. Walked around looking for someone. Finally found a guy. Not much help. He explained that he was the only guy working in the fishing section and he did not know anything about fly fishing. I asked where the guy was that did. He explained that “Jim” was on his lunch break. I left without buying anything. My point is that I can order everything I need online from non Cabela’s sources. I can put the line on myself. I chose to go to a store for some “customer service.” If that doesn’t happen why make the trip? I think that was my last time.

I used to love shopping at Cabela’s. What an incredible establishment. Great products, great service. But lately, the experience has been suboptimal in that, from my humble point of view, the only employee’s they seem have are at checkout, customer service, sun glasses, and guns. If there was a question about cloths, you can wander the acreage to find someone, or hike to Customer Service to for them to call someone to help. And then we wait. This has happened the last several times I have been in the store. Tried the online experience, and this too was a swing and miss, as my excitement of getting a new product, reenforced by the emails showing the status of the logistics of the transaction boosting the anticipated joy of the arrival of the package, were deflated when I received the wrong product. So, the shopping experience has degraded, to the point of other venues being evaluated for my retail dollars. Sad, but true.

Poor customer service every time. Call for a question, placed on hold for over ten minutes without asking if I would hold. Cabela's doesn't care about your business or mine.

I have always been a big Cabela's fan! They have always treated me right and been super helpful. This weekend I drove down there to see about purchasing a pistol. They did not have any in stock but they did have a used one. It was missing the thread protector for the barrel. The issue was they were asking over $200.00 more for it used than they have it listed as new on their website. I know they use gun broker to price guns but that was insane! I have lost all faith in Cabela's as a brand and will start driving the extra 20 minutes the Scheels to make any purchases. Which is exactly what I did! They didn't have the gun either but at least they aren't trying to rip off the customers!
