My Experience at PLAT’s Closet Today
I visited PLAT’s Closet today to sell some merchandise, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.
First, when I walked into the store, the staff was standing behind the counter arguing with one another instead of being attentive to the customers coming into the store. The overall attitude came across as though they did not want to be there or assist the patrons.
Before bringing my merchandise in, I had actually gone to the store beforehand to ask what types of items they were currently accepting. I did that specifically so I wouldn’t waste my time bringing in items they didn’t want. I was told, essentially, to bring the items in and they would sort through them.
When I arrived today, I had several items that were either brand new or had never been worn, including work shoes, Keds, Nurse Mates, a pair of heels from another boutique, two denim jackets—including a Michael Kors jacket—long skirts, nice shorts, and other clothing, with several pieces still having the tags attached.
What really confused and frustrated me was that the board inside the store specifically listed items such as denim jackets, long skirts, shirts, and shorts as things they were accepting. Yet, when I brought those exact types of items in, I was told they were not taking them.
I completely understand that a store has the right to be selective about what merchandise they purchase. That is not my issue. My issue is the lack of consistency and communication. If certain items are not being accepted, the information should be clearly communicated to customers before they spend their time gathering and bringing merchandise into the store.
This is not my first disappointing experience there, but after today, it will be my last. I would not recommend PLAT’s Closet based on my experience. Customers deserve to be treated with professionalism, courtesy, and clear communication when they walk through the door.
I won’t be returning, and I would encourage others to consider taking their clothing elsewhere.
