I visited this store to purchase a pair of shorts and asked an associate where the Super Stretch shorts were located. Her response was, “These are as stretchy as they will get.” I was shocked and embarrassed by the comment, which came across as insensitive and body-shaming.
As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and professionalism. There are many ways she could have answered my question without making me feel uncomfortable. This interaction left me feeling judged rather than helped.
Management should do a better job training employees on customer service, professionalism, and how to communicate respectfully with customers of all sizes. Because of this experience, I do not plan to return to this store.

I’ve been shopping at American Eagle for YEARS and I will never return to this location because that old lady named Wendy that works there. I walked in to exchange some jeans for a smaller size. I was the only customer there at the time so i walked up to the counter and said I would like to exchange these for a size 10 and she said do you want to go get them yourself. I said sure but can you point to where they would be. Then she says actually this tag is in the wrong spot, we never put it there. I was confused, so I said well I don’t know that’s how I got them. She asked someone else to show me where the jeans were then followed me and was showing the other person where the tag was and says look, we never put it there. I was still confused and now uncomfortable because I feel like she was trying to accuse me of something but I don’t know what because it doesn’t make sense, I just needed a smaller size. The other girl tells me they don’t have them in store but can order them online so I agree. Wendy is forced to process this but is visibly upset for some reason. Then she scans the receipt and shows the other girl the screen and the other girl says yeah go ahead. I thought that was it. As I am still shopping for other jeans she is still holding the jeans and showing everyone and talking about it and then screams out yeah we are section 8 now. Which is really confusing because Wendy is probably 40 years older than me and I know I make way more money than her. I just needed a smaller size and she was super weird and unprofessional.
