  I had a very unfortunate and frankly concerning experience at this store today while taking my 92-year-old, wheelchair-bound grandmother shopping. The interaction started off fine, but quickly deteriorated when the cashier began pushing a Belk credit card. My grandmother had one years ago and asked about it, which turned into pressure to open a new account for a 20% discount (about $15). I told my grandmother she could make her own decision, but that I did not think it was a good idea—at 92, the last thing she needs is another financial account to manage. At that point, the cashier’s attitude noticeably changed. Despite my grandmother becoming visibly confused, the cashier continued to push the credit card and, in an irritated tone, said that my grandmother “clearly wanted the card.” No—she was becoming confused and unable to make a clear decision. It was not the cashier’s place to insert herself in that way. The situation escalated to the point where my grandmother was so overwhelmed she couldn’t even complete the payment process, and I had to step in and pay just to get us out of there. Instead of showing any awareness of what was happening, the cashier dropped all prior friendliness and professionalism, did not say goodbye, and gave me multiple hostile looks, as though my guidance to my grandmother interfered with her “sale.” This was incredibly tone-deaf. I was clearly assisting a vulnerable elderly person. I understand there may be quotas for employees, but that does not excuse the poor judgment, attitude, and lack of professionalism displayed. This occurred around 12:00 PM on Sunday, May 3, at the beauty counter checkout near the front doors. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses it. Take care of your elderly, folks.

  This is a great store and everyone is always so nice. Theresa is very helpful and kind and I’m happy with the selection of inventory and always feel like a got a bargain.

  Hannah told me next time to bring the exact amount becouse i took all her one dollar bills and now she had to make a call for change or someone has too run to the bank. This was at 11am so very interesting time to alteady run out of ones.I began to check out and walked to my car really just upset and so bothered that I just had to go back in and get her name and speak with her manager. Come to find out the manager was the one lady who I asked where the dressing room was and she pointed in the corner and told me not to bring my cart in the dressing room. Unnessary to say and if she would of paid attention i had 3 pairs of pants so why would she even say that. When i told the manager she began to say , oh yeah we are having issues with cash etc... I wasn't trying to listen to there company problems when im just trying to enjoy shopping. This place made me feel so unwanted and I will never go back to this location again and this was my first time here. The magament needs to be retrained on customer experience and what not to share with customers Seems as ypur staff is even frustrated at management if there are no solutions being brought to the operation but asking customers to bring exact change is not the solution.
