I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand that everyone has difficult days, but my experience at the Gorjana store in the Danbury Fair Mall was disappointing enough that I feel it’s important to share.
In March, I purchased a fine gold bracelet as a Mother’s Day gift for my sister. Less than two months after she began wearing it, it accidentally snagged and broke. I went into the store simply to ask whether it could be repaired.
The store manager, Moriah Lopez, told me that because the bracelet cost less than $600, Gorjana would not repair it because it would cost the company more to repair than the bracelet was worth. When I asked if there were any other options, I was told no, and that I would have to find my own jeweler to repair it.
That didn’t seem right, so I contacted Gorjana’s Customer Care team directly. Within minutes, they assured me that the bracelet could absolutely be repaired or replaced, and they made the process incredibly simple. I was honestly shocked at how different my experience with Customer Care was compared to my experience in the store.
When I returned to the Danbury Fair Mall location to discuss the situation, I was met with excuses rather than accountability. I was repeatedly told that Moriah had been trained differently, and then told that because the bracelet had snagged on a puppy’s nail, it somehow didn’t qualify. That explanation made very little sense, as delicate jewelry can catch on countless everyday objects.
What disappointed me most wasn’t that the bracelet broke—it was the way I was treated. I felt dismissed, given inaccurate information, and made to believe there was nothing Gorjana could do, when that simply wasn’t true.
I want to be clear that this review is about my experience at this particular location, not the company as a whole. Gorjana’s Customer Care team, along with Matthew and Ben, completely restored my faith in the brand. They were kind, knowledgeable, compassionate, and resolved the issue quickly and professionally.
Unfortunately, because of my interaction with the store manager, I won’t be returning to this location. I shop at Danbury Fair Mall every week and have spent thousands of dollars over the years at jewelry stores including Inspiration Co., Kay Jewelers, Zales, Banter, and Pandora. I’ve never felt as dismissed as I did here. I have friends whom work and shop at this mall whom I shared my experience with and they have mentioned that they will not step foot into this store because of the way they’ve been treated by Moriah. It’s quite unfortunate.
Every customer deserves to be treated with respect and given accurate information, whether they’re purchasing a $300 piece or a $3,000 one. I sincerely hope this feedback encourages additional training so future customers receive the level of service that Gorjana’s Customer Care team clearly strives to provide.
The in-store experience was poor, but the company ultimately made it right
