- KBKelly BeautifullycursedgrlApr 13, 20261.0I don’t know if I just have bad luck compared to others, but I’ve had my smart start device for over two years now and have had a horrible experience. The folks at the service center are GREAT! Mander Automotive employees have been nothing but helpful. These issues have nothing to do with them.. It is Smart Start that is the problem. This is the second time I’ve had issues with my device and have been charged fees that I’m having trouble getting back. Upon leaving from work on March 25th I found my device in lockout violation mode. I sat on hold for over an hour (while also trying to reach them via text- to no avail) I eventually just got a ride home. Next day waited on hold for over an hour and a half while at work and was finally able to get an unlock code. I drove to the service center for recalibration and was told I had over 120 violations!! I had recently had my device recalibrated, I only drive this car to work and back so I’m not even sure how that could have even physically been possible. I was charged $153. Like I said, this was not long after my normal service check which there is also a fee for. The wonderful people at Mander thought it could possibly been a cord malfunction and changed that for me. I submitted an incident report and uploaded photos while they made notes about the cord. The email I received said I would hear something in 7-10 business days.. today is the 11th business day and nothing. I called, Sat on hold forever and then was told they made a note and I would hear back in 7 business days. It’s a never ending loop! Customer service is horrible and there is absolutely nothing you can do or any way to get help. I definitely regret using this service. I was trying to save a little money as it was a little cheaper than the others and I now know why. If you have to get an interlock device USE SOMEONE ELSE!!
