- JRJordyn ReedJun 21, 20261.0First time trying this store, decided to browse and found an item I liked. I was asked for a phone number at the register. Like any other place, I say no. Cashier got distracted by her coworker taking to her and ignores us for 3 minutes. Finally comes back to our purchase, asks for phone number again and I said I dont have one with yall, never shopped here, I dont need it. She stands there, stutters something and then says "well if you plan on returning them..." and stood there. Felt like I had to or I wouldnt be able to finish the purchase or return them if I changed my mind. So I give the number and then just keep getting asked MORE personal info. Email, first and last name. She cant type a single thing im saying, and I have to repeat myself 3 times for everything. Then got offered a protection program, and when I said a clear no, she grabbed a pen and put a tally on a post-it note by her keyboard. Honestly felt soooo predatory, like yall need to reach a quota. Finally finish the purchase, walk out and see on my receipt that it says "member information as of 6/19/2026". I never wanted to sign up for that bullshit. I never even wanted to give yall my phone number but the employee really didnt give an option and now yall signed me up for a membership where im gonna get spam emails from a place i browsed at one time. I thought yall needed it incase of a return per what your employee said. Chatted online DSW today and was told that is NOT the policy and I dont need to be a member to do anything. Had them delete my account, and the email was wrong anyways. Educate your employees better and stop being so predatory and forcing customers to give personal data for a pair of SHOES. First time in and ill never be back.
