  STAY AWAY FROM THE JEWELRY DEPARTMENT ⚠️ I purchased a ‘gold’ chain from the jewelry department and recently had it appraised. The appraisal revealed that the chain had another material inside/mix in that made the chain attract to a magnet, which everyone knows genuine gold does not do that. The appraiser told me although I had 10k gold in the chain, there was another metal inside that caused this reaction. I called the store and they could not explain what kind of chain I had based on the magnetic attraction. I definitely will not be going to or sending anyone to JCPennys for purchases in the future.

  The woman at the jewelry counter was more concerned with counting inventory than assisting me. The plus-size section is virtually non-existent. I kept hearing a manager on the radio saying the sales associates need to make her happy by boosting sales. This store has really gone downhill and had very little customers.

  The store is a ghost town, no music playing overhead and took us 5 min to find the cashier. Bought a winter jacket for 25 bucks on clearance/ the coat is good.

  Bought a necklace here almost a yr ago. I returned yesterday (3-31-26) just for a cleaning. I paid for the warranty service which includes cleanings and repairs. But I was turned away because I didn't bring my receipt in. The lady was able to find me in their system though. She claimed it doesn't show what I purchased. Not sure why a customer would arrive as soon as they open only to be dishonest. My initial rating would have been higher in the beginning. That lady was sweet.
