Have shopped here for a few years up til today. Went in with questions regarding a fishing reel, cashier directed me to a “fishing department worker” who proceeded to know absolutely nothing about fishing. Just seemed like he was thrown in that department. Between him (didn’t get his name, short guy) and another one with long hair who couldn’t seem to form a sentence, I will no longer be back. I’ve had great experiences in this store up til the last few months. Ethan and Adam are great and miss seeing Ethan around, was always nice to talk to him.
New management really seems to show.
I ended up purchasing a $380 reel else where and had a much more welcoming experience.
You would think this type of store would hire acknowledgeable people that could help sell their products, not run off their customers. This store will not survive based off previous reviews regarding their gun counter and other experiences in other departments.

Awful customer service behind the gun counter. One of the employees was condescending and rude to customers. His boss even had to tell him to simmer down. Waste of everyone's time. Don't work with the public if you can't be polite.

This store is like a ghost town, every time I visit this store in Visalia, CA its always empty. On top of lack of customer traffic the customer service is extremely poor. I also didn't get welcoming feeling coming in to this store. I tried to get some help. The only other person that is available just walk away from me like I wasn't even a customer...

GUNS/AMMO Dept at Visalia store has HORRIBLE customer service! Drove across town for advertised ammo sale...the two calibers I wanted were not on the shelf. I stood near the counter for 15 minutes waiting for assistance, which I was never offered. Employees ignored me. I'll never return to that store.

First time buyers, stay away!! They need actual employees at the weapon counter. I always find one or two people there on a good day and they damn sure don't make it friendly. Went in to buy some ammo then the gentleman at the counter, JOSHUA swiped MY debit card from me after passing the background check to "make sure I wasn't buying ammo for someone else because you can't do that." I regret to inform you, Joshua, that I was in fact using my debit card, that is in my legal name. I applaud your effort but it should be noted that you technically can buy ammo for someone else! You are allowed to gift ammo to immediate family, with everyone else having to go through private party transfers, and, obviously felons are prohibited. I personally don't know any felons but I did take the time to go through all the legal channels to obtain my firearm safety certificate, as well as familiarize myself with the laws. I'm sorry I looked at you wrong 🙄
It seems that the unfriendly behavior hasn't been dealt with for a while, according to past reviews.
Expletives and general unprofessionialism are common here, and it genuinely seems like at least two of the people at the gun counter are either having a bad day...or are on a mission to make your shopping experience as miserable as possible. I'm extremely thankful I bought my first firearm from a different retailer in a much more professional environment. A first time buyer should, like another reviewer said, be excited about the experience.
The (mostly) unbeatable ammo prices are keeping this place open. Only come here if you absolutely have to, and make sure you have a thick skin and a debit card with your name on it... ;)
