Plato's Closet buys and sells gently used clothing, shoes, sneakers, accessories and athletic wear for teens and young adults in Tucson. Sell styles you no longer wear for cash on the spot, or shop thrifted, secondhand, and resale fashion, including trendy, brand-name styles for less. With 500+ independently owned and operated locations across the U.S. and Canada, fresh inventory arriving daily, Plato's Closet makes thrifting easy, affordable, and more sustainable.
I brought in 3 designer purses all in great condition (I left their dust bags in the car) and AE jeans in varying sizes and the girl at the counter offered me $25 for them. After I said no, she literally threw my items onto the counter and extremely sarcastically said “well have a great day then”.
Upon walking out of the store a girl who was going in stopped me and offered to buy one of the bags and I sold it for $75. This location is a joke. They’ll buy SHEIN but not Marc Jacobs and Coach.

I can’t understand why this place is still in business. Overpriced regular inventory…better off shopping elsewhere.

I had a really frustrating experience with Plato’s Closet. I dropped off my clothes and was told the wait time would be around 45–55 minutes, which seemed reasonable.
I came back an hour and a half later, also known as twice the quoted wait time and they hadn’t even started going through my items. Not delayed… not running behind… completely untouched.
To make things worse, I had groceries sitting in my truck, so it’s not like I could just wait around another 20+ minutes while they finally got to it. When I asked what was going on, the manager said they had a “rush” and their computers went down, which honestly just felt like a cop-out. If you’re that backed up, be upfront instead, contact the people waiting on you but of instead you’re just wasting their time.
What really pushed it over the edge was the manager’s response. When I pointed out that it didn’t seem like anyone cared enough to fix the situation, she told me I was “coming at her.” But if acknowledging that nothing was being done to make it right counts as “coming at you,” then yes, that’s exactly what I was doing. Because from my perspective, there was zero effort to take responsibility or offer any kind of solution.
The whole experience felt disorganized and dismissive. If you’re going to take people’s items and give them a timeframe, the least you can do is respect it, or communicate when you can’t. Instead, it was a complete waste of time with no accountability.
I won’t be back.
