Frequently Asked Questions About Mack's Prairie Wings
What do you need to start waterfowl hunting?
To get started, you will need a shotgun (typically 12- or 20-gauge), non-toxic ammunition, waders, camouflage clothing, and decoys. Many hunters also use duck calls and blinds to improve success. Having the right gear and understanding waterfowl behavior are key to a successful hunt.
When is the best time to go waterfowl hunting?

Where can you hunt waterfowl?
Waterfowl are commonly hunted in wetlands, lakes, rivers, marshes, and flooded fields where birds feed and rest. Scouting these areas ahead of time helps identify flight patterns and improves your chances of success.
How many decoys do you need for duck hunting?
Beginners can start with about a dozen decoys for small water setups, while larger spreads of 10-12 dozen decoys are used in bigger areas. The right setup depends on location, species, and hunting conditions.
Do you need a license for waterfowl hunting?
