  My review is to praise an employee, but also serve as a caution for others who have an account at Belk. I have only had an account for a few months, and was shocked to see two fees on my most recent statement: $1.99 paper statement fee and $3.07 "Payment Security" fee. Neither of these fees have been on my statement in the past, so I called customer service to dispute them. The cust. serv. rep waived my stmt. fee, but I had to call a different phone # regarding the pmt. security fee. I cancelled the service (which I DID NOT enroll in) and they agreed to credit my account for the fee charged this month. I also, grudgingly, enrolled in paperless statements and will diligently review my receipts, comparing them to my online statements, to be sure I am paying ONLY for my purchases in the future. My praise is for the "Manager in charge" that I spoke to - Valerie - who was extremely apologetic and very courteous. She turned what would have been a scathing review into one with an entirely different tone. She provided excellent customer service and made me want to continue to shop in the Cullman, AL store.

  Employees everywhere. Getting ready for company. They were just unwilling to check you out with your merchandise. No, this register is closed. 3 employees working on a layout they must have been late completing. Next register. Two employees cleaning displays. This register is closed also. Try make up one if them says. No luck. I've now traveled two thirds of the way around the store. Remember there are employees everywhere, doing their thing and it ain't customer service. I finally find an open register. 6 people in line in front of me. I won't bore you with the impossible return lady and the lady making a payment so she can charge more. 10 minutes later, I checked my watch a third employee appears to help clear the line. I hope their visit goes well.

  I went to this store planning on buying several pairs of jeans and possibly other clothing and housewares. I selected 6 items to try on but could not locate a fitting room. An employee directed me to the fitting room that was located all the way across the store, at the front area. So, I carried all of my items to that location, only to find 6 women waiting in line to try on their items. I gave up and selected one pair of jeans that I thought would fit and decided to buy them. When I told the cashier about my frustration with the fitting room situation, a second employe said “There are 2 of them, HON”. Her tone was SO condescending and bitchy that I swore I would NEVER shop at this location ever again. I’ve lived in Cullman for 61 years and I remember a time when Belk Hudson’s was the fancy store where everyone wanted to go to buy nice things. Now, it’s a sad place with no customer service. I’ll just do my shopping online or go to Decatur to shop.
