  My husband purchased my engagement ring here at the end of 2007. For many years, I kept up with the recommended maintenance. When the store closed for a period of time, that routine was interrupted, and I resumed maintenance again once they reopened. Admittedly, I didn't keep up with it like I should after that. Recently (last year) , I brought my ring in for servicing and was told by an associate that my ring was so badly warped and damaged that it could not be repaired. I was told the prongs were extremely weak, that it was unsafe to wear, that I could potentially lose my diamond, and that my warranty was no longer valid. I was told the setting was essentially "done" and that I would need to purchase an entirely new setting. I looked at new settings but left to think it over. This ring has been on my finger for nearly 20 years and holds sentimental value for both myself and my husband, so replacing it was not something I took lightly. After giving it more thought, I reached back out to ask if there was truly no way to repair it. I was again told that the jeweler said it was beyond repair. Visually, the ring looked no different than it always had, but I was told that gold weakens over time. When I reiterated my question about just wanting to switch out the head, I received no response back.... Something didn’t sit right with me, so I sought a second opinion at Acori Jewelers in Friendswood. I was relieved to learn that my ring was NOT beyond repair and was not in nearly the condition I had been led to believe. They explained that while it was slightly warped, it was absolutely repairable. They replaced the head that holds the prongs, and the ring looks identical to how it always has. I’m sharing this so others can make informed decisions. If you purchase your ring here, be aware that at some point you may be told it is “too old” and that replacement is your only option. If your ring is something you expect to wear for a lifetime and are emotionally attached to, I strongly recommend seeking a second opinion before being pressured into buying a new setting and if you decide to purchase here, don't bet on your warranty being forever. I'm so glad I got a second opinion and was able to keep my same setting.
