Stopped by on my lunch break to pick up some horse feed and was shocked by the friendly associates working there! I believe her name is Joeanna, she helped me check out and was amazing, we had great conversation and she answered all of my questions I had! Thank you for the great visit!

After my visit to The Tourist Bureau, I drove down the frontage road to Murdoch's.
Ample parking !
I walk in and pickup up a cart. It's my first visit here so I plan to look everywhere.
I started on the left side looking at the many varieties of candies, like jelly beans for $3.79. I saw Amish Popcorn in many varieties for $3.45. I chose the rainbow one. I was hoping for an air popcorn popper, but I didn't see any. Instead they had air popcorn banks.
I entered the feed sections for farm and domestic animals and here it has a very strong smell. I'm sensitive to smells, but that is just me. I was glad I kept moving away from this sector.
Soon I saw camping, gardening, clothes, hardware etc.
I waited in line to check out.
The woman cashier was very kind with a telephone caller who was asking about pet supplies from another place. The caller was from Florida.
I thought the cashier was extremely kind and helpful to the caller. She explained to her, she had to put her on hold if she wanted to wait as she has customers. Afterwards she explained to the caller she had no idea where the place was.
I had asked if I could take an inside photo ? She said, " Yes."
Murdoch's has many merchandise categories. Do come and see.
I decided for my lunch I would pop some Amish Popcorn. I put some corn oil in a saucepan, added popcorn, cover it, set at #6. Heard the kernels popping. Removed from range. Every kernel had popped, white and fluffy, and none were burnt. I ate my bowl of popcorn and enjoyed it !
I will return for more popcorn.

The staff was incredibly helpful, friendly, and truly went above and beyond to make my recommend this place! l'd especially like to recognize one of the cashiers, if I remember correctly, her name was Victoria. She was very kind, patient, and assisted me in locating several items throughout the store. She answered all of my questions with care and made the entire experience even better!

I had a really great experience at Murdoch’s in San Marcos and wanted to give a shoutout to Victoria for being a stand out cashier.
From the start, she was super friendly and easy to talk to, which made the whole checkout feel a lot more relaxed and not rushed at all. You can tell she actually cares about the customers and isn’t just trying to get people in and out.
What really stood out to me though was something I saw while I was in line yesterday. There was this guy ahead of me who was being pretty rude and impatient, and honestly, most people would’ve gotten upset in which I wouldn’t have blamed her at all, But Victoria stayed chill the entire time. She didn’t raise her voice or get defensive—she just kept being polite, explained things clearly, and handled the situation with a TON of patience.
After that, when it was my turn, she still had the same positive attitude like nothing even happened. It’s small things like that that make a big difference. She just made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.
Honestly, it’s rare to come across GENUINE customer service like that nowadays, and she really stood out. Murdoch’s is lucky to have her—I’ll definitely be coming back because of experiences like this.

Nearly every visit, without fail, there is one cashier Victoria..who completely shatters that otherwise positive experience. It’s not just a bad day to her it feels like a pattern, like an atmosphere that follows her wherever she stands. Her attitude is very negative, carrying a heavy “I don’t care at all” energy that is impossible to ignore. There’s a visible lack of urgency in the way she works slow, disengaged, and almost inconvenienced by the mere act of helping customers. I’ve heard her talk to people over the radio.. how are you going to be rude to ur fellow co workers also? Very miserable lady. Find a new job because you are ruining others days and job experience. I’ve never felt so disrespected by somebody this many times.
I’ve even gone as far as mentioning her behavior to other employees, hoping it might lead to some kind of change, but nothing ever seems to improve. Meanwhile, the rest of the team continues to be polite, helpful, and genuinely pleasant making her behavior stand out even more starkly, like a dark cloud over an otherwise bright experience. It’s frustrating, because this store has so much going for it..but one consistently negative presence can leave a lasting impression that’s hard to ignore. Find a new job please, you are making it harder for me to feel welcome at this amazing store.
