Wendel in the fly fishing shop is the most pretentious and rude employee I have ever encountered. When I asked him about tips and tricks, he acted like he didn’t want to help me, and was more concerned with telling me how much he knew about fly fishing and how long he had been doing it. I am new to the area and just wanted some pointers about fishing these waters and he didn’t offer any advice. When I asked him to pick out 10 flys that he thinks I should try he said “I don’t do that” Bass pro might as well put an inexperienced employee back there because all he really did was bump his gums and point me in the general direction of things I asked for. Thankfully I am not brand new to fly fishing because if I was, this experience very well might have turned me off to it for good.

Absolutely unacceptable experience at this Bass Pro. On Sunday, while checking out, the adjacent cashier leaned a big item on the very edge of the counter and it fell directly onto my 2 month old son’s head. We were there to take him for his very first Santa picture, instead, we ended up having to rush him to the ER to get evaluated. He got hit hard enough to develop a small goose egg on his head and was crying from the impact. The staff was helpful and gave us an ice pack and also called EMS. However, only a fire truck arrived, and they were not equipped to evaluate a newborn with a head injury. We ended up rushing him to the ER to get checked. With an infant, whose skull is still developing, ANY strike to the head can be extremely serious. We were shaken, and even today we are still unsettled by what happened. No parent expects their newborn to be hit in the head while checking out at the cash register. What makes this worse is that Bass Pro took all of our information to file the incident then never contacted us. Not a call, not an email, nothing. For an incident involving a newborn inside their store, I would’ve expected at least a follow up to make sure my son was okay. This store is heavily frequented by families and young children, especially during the holidays when they actively advertise and promote Santa photos. With so many kids gathered around the registers and checkout areas, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect Bass Pro to have safety measures in place to prevent accidents like this. Instead, there are no safeguards, no barriers, and apparently no protocols at the registers to prevent employees from negligently placing heavy or awkward items in unsafe positions. Bass Pro sells large, bulky merchandise that can easily tip or fall if handled carelessly. Allowing items to be balanced on the edge of counters is clearly a serious oversight. This incident was completely preventable. Bass Pro needs to review their safety procedures, train their staff properly, and implement safeguards at their checkout stations so this cannot happen again.

It was a massive store with all your wants and needs for hunting to fishing and even a section for shoes and camping necessities. All in all a great place to visit for most of your hunting needs.
