Now I see how horrible the general manager JR Young treats his employees. He yells at them for doing their job. At first I thought he was just a regular employee being a butt to his coworkers but later found out it's the general manager. He loves to yell at them infront of customers and curse at them. If this is the kind of etiquette and training Bass Pro gives to his managers then I feel horrible for the employees. I sincerely hope they do better. I rather go shop at Dick's

Apparently being a multimillion-dollar company makes it acceptable to deny a military family a $2,500 firearm purchase over a honest clerical error on an ATF form. Despite my husband being legally eligible to purchase a firearm, the transaction was refused outright. Rather than following a reasonable corrective process, staff escalated the situation by making unfounded assumptions, including suggesting that in the three months since my husband’s retirement from the military he could have been adjudicated or court-ordered into a mental institution—with no evidence whatsoever. We offered multiple forms of documentation to verify eligibility and try to correct the mistake or re-accomplish the form. All were dismissed. Instead, my husband was treated as suspicious and vilified for an error that could have been resolved professionally. As a military spouse, I was then made to feel inferior and criminalized for attempting to purchase the firearm myself. I was accused of attempting a fraudulent purchase despite the fact that I legally own multiple firearms and have passed background checks in the past without issue. This was not about compliance—it was about poor judgment, lack of professionalism, and deeply disrespectful treatment of a military family. There is a difference between following the law and hiding behind it while making baseless assumptions and denying customers dignity. I would strongly caution other customers—especially military families—to consider whether this is a company that treats lawful, responsible gun owners with fairness and respect.

I currently had a very disappointing experience during my first time attempting to purchase a firearm at Bass Pro Shops. This purchase was intended to be a Christmas gift from my wife, which made the situation especially frustrating. I take responsibility for making a simple mistake on the ATF form that resulted in a self-disqualification. However, I have completed this process before without issue, including while on active duty through a Base Exchange, where I was allowed to correct and initial a minor error and proceed. I also already legally own several firearms, and the denial was not based on my eligibility to purchase or possess one. Instead, I was told the decision came from “higher ups,” with no effort to resolve the issue at the store level and no clear explanation beyond internal policy. For a first-time customer, the lack of consistency, transparency, and customer consideration was extremely disappointing. I expected better communication and professionalism from a company of this size and reputation. Unfortunately, this experience has made me reconsider future firearm purchases here.

My friends and I visited for the first time today. We were greeted right away when we came in. The employee who helped us initially seemed a bit over the day, but it was late, so it was understandable. While we were browsing hats and shirts, another employee stood nearby and seemingly followed us as we moved around that section of the store. It may have been nothing, but it was noticeable. That aside, we each ended up purchasing two hats, and overall it was a really fun experience. The store has so much to look through, and we had an absolute blast exploring everything it has to offer.

The place looks like its the outdoor woods or the wilderness feeling. It's got a cool vibe to it makes you wanna take a lot of pics. There are many fun gear for all kind of outdoor activity. The product is of high quality & brands, i did not find any generic brand, like things you can buy on amazon that are of good quality yet affordable priving. So for example a bag with same quality & look but a different brand sold on amazon be $20 & here its $180 of a famous brand. I say this coz the products are most of the time the same but has been private labeled by the manufacturer for one order & other private label branded for another order.. I think they should open to more brands to cater towards all customers & create a healthy competition. Right now I felt it had not much options & just a monopoly control of who got into their store first.
