I’d like to begin by saying that I’ve worked with Bass Pro in the past for many years, and Bass Pro was also a sponsor of our hunting and fishing guide service. We’ve set up tables and booths at multiple locations on behalf of Zink, Avian-X, Mossy Oak, and several other sponsor brands, so we’re very familiar with the company and its standards.
Yesterday (11/22/25), my wife and I brought our daughter in to get her picture taken with Santa, and my wife planned to finish some Christmas shopping while we were there. She intended to purchase two Super Black Eagle 3s and two Glocks. I’ve personally purchased firearms from this location before without any issues.
When we made our way to the duck calls, I tested one—something that has always been allowed. Suddenly, an employee from the archery department approached us aggressively, saying, “Congratulations, you just bought that call.” He positioned himself in the aisle in a way that felt confrontational and was extremely rude. I responded politely, explaining that this had never been a problem before and that there were no signs indicating otherwise.
He then made an unnecessary political remark involving COVID. For context, the Grapevine location even provides wipes for trying out duck calls, and Bass Pro’s own website states that customers are allowed to test calls before purchasing them. His behavior made my wife very uncomfortable, and at one point he even implied we were attempting to steal the call. After a brief exchange, he ended the conversation by saying, “Whatever. I’ll just disinfect this call so nobody gets sick.”
To be honest, the interaction completely changed my wife’s willingness to spend her money at that location. We left and purchased our firearms at Scheels instead. This incident will also be discussed with JP Morris during his upcoming duck hunt with us.
I understand that anyone working in retail can have a bad day, but this situation was beyond unreasonable. I sincerely hope no one else has a similar experience.

Do NOT go to this Location!! I was calling the other day to see if they were hiring and seeing if I could speak with a hiring manager, and a lady said “she’s in a meeting”, and I said “oh can you have her call my number when she’s out?” And she said “idk if she’s even here today.” How do you not know?? I said “if she’s able to, please have her call me when she gets a chance, it’s urgent”. I said this knowing how long it tends to take to get a callback. I wanted to make sure I got a chance to come in and speak with her about this before she left for the day. The lady passes my number to the hiring manager and just 30 minutes later I receive a phone call from the rudest woman! I’ve never seen anyone act so ghetto, I really expected better with Bass Pro but what the heck?? She called berating me for “causing commotion” and told me I don’t need to be calling up there. And when she looked at the application I submitted, she was extremely unprofessional. She said “And where is your retail experience hmm?? I don’t see any retail experience at all in here??” My application says I’ve been in sales for years, so I knew she was just being rude. I can tell management is toxic here. Avoid at all costs!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! How do you have in store pickup on your website but don’t have the items in stock? Nor does it say items not in stock on your website after choosing selected store. Bass pro really need to fix that miscommunication before consumers purchase on their site not after in store. You get this gigantic facility that’s worthless to me and don’t have not even 1 of the 10 items I purchased in your store? If I wanted it shipped I would have chose the shipping option!!! I purchased over $220 worth of products as a gift to be picked up in the store. I submitted it at 7 am. I got an email at 8:10 am that they were processing my order. I get to the store 8 hours later, waited in line over 20 minutes to be told none of the items were in the store which I don’t believe because they wouldn’t even check their inventory or store area to see if they had the items!!!! What kind of customer service is that? Obviously they don’t value their customers nor their time and money spent. No one went the extra mile just told me it would probably assuming may be in 5-6 days/3-4 business days. I will be requesting full refund as this was purchased for a special occasion happening this weekend not 3-5 business days.

What’s up with the Archery Guy named Ron? If you have to tell customers that you’re the archery expert and that your other associates are not or even bad mouth them, you probably shouldn’t be working in the retail. Went in to buy a new thumb release for my bow and the first guy that was helping had an awesome attitude and was extremely helpful. I don’t remember his name but it was the black gentleman. Soon as Ron showed up, it just went downhill because he didn’t wanna have me open the package to show me how it works or what it feels like even though I have never used one before. To be fair, all the packages have snap on edges and a staple or two holding them together. Almost like the manufacturer knew these items would be opened so then made them easily accessible and easy to be put back together. I just gave up and told him I’ll be back next time since he was so adamant about telling me that I can just read how they are used but he couldn’t show me unless I bought it first.
