The Mardel Christian & Education is a wonderful store for Christian books, educational resources, and thoughtful gifts. The selection is excellent, with a wide range of Bibles, devotionals, children’s books, homeschool and classroom materials, craft supplies, and faith-based gifts.
The store is clean, well organized, and peaceful, making it a pleasant place to browse without feeling rushed. Staff members are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help find the right book or resource. I especially appreciate the variety of materials available for kids, which makes it a great place for families.
Overall, Mardel is a valuable resource for faith, learning, and inspiration. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality Christian and educational materials.

This review is about racial profiling at its finest at Mardel’s in Frisco, TX. Do not go there if your skin is any color other than white. Their staff and plain clothes employees will watch you and follow you without trying to be inconspicuous.
I am a Hispanic woman and public school teacher. On Saturday, January, 17th, I went to Mardel’s in Frisco to laminate materials for my classroom. As I was laminating a woman approached me, invaded my personal space, and looked at what I was laminating. She looked at me and said she was going to wait until I was done laminating so she could use the one I was using. There were thee other perfectly good laminators she could’ve of
used but that is neither here nor there. She then told me she would be back later to use it. Several minutes later she returned, parked her cart in front of the laminator beside me, and started opening packages of teaching resources while staring at me. It was VERY uncomfortable.
When I finished laminating, I cut the film and started measuring it. The lady who said she was
going to use the laminator I was at remained in her spot and kept watching me. I ignored her and continued measuring my film. As I was doing this, I heard someone say, “excuse me,” twice before I looked up. A lady looked at me and asked me if
it was okay if she left some books in the area. She did not have any books in her hands or in a cart. I told her I didn’t work there. There was no reason for her to ask for my permission to leave books in the area, so I concluded she was plain clothes employee.
I finished measuring my lamination and walked back to the laminator I been at so I could grab a slip provided by the store to document the length of laminating film I used. As I was doing this, the lady who had been watching me finally went the laminator I used and stared at me. It was unsettling.
I set down my resources and the slip on a table so
I could use the restroom before I left. I was followed into the restroom where there were two EMPTY stalls. I walked into a stall and the person who followed me into the bathroom did not go into the other stall. She waited until I was done and then went into the stall I used. I believe she was a plain clothes employee.
I exited the restroom and retrieved my resources that I laminated as I was ready to pay for my stuff and leave. The same lady who had
watched me the entire time I was laminating grabbed my stuff and headed to the registers. I had to walk down an aisle to get there. When I got to the end of the aisle, the manager (caucasian, dark curly hair, and eye glasses) suddenly appeared and blocked my path momentarily. He didn’t look at me or greet me. How rude! He then proceeded to the registers where I was headed.
When it was my turn to pay he stood right beside
the cashier checking me out. I gave her my slip,
she showed it to the manager, and read it to him.
He shook his head and then came and stood very close to me as I was getting ready to pay. The total cost was very cheap, and it was in that moment I realized that I miscalculated the length of film I used. It was an honest mistake, but I know it wasn’t a good look based on how I had been treated (i.e., suspicious person).
I remeasure my film, filled out a new slip and returned to the registers. A different cashier took care of me. The manager approached her, she showed him my slip, and read it out loud. I payed for my stuff and left. I got into my van and cried.
My experience was nerve-wracking. I observed my surroundings while there and didn’t see white people being watched and/or followed. The manager wasn’t standing beside the cashiers when other customers were checking out. That is why I believe I was unfairly profiled. I don’t know where I can go to laminate my materials in the future, but it will not be at Mardel’s in Frisco, TX.
