- IQIce QuApr 9, 20263.0This is the large Belk Department Store that you might remember. They have housewares, jewelry, shoes, kid's clothes, women's and men's clothing, and so forth. They have a small area of cosmetics and fragrance counters, too. Many mid-price designer brands and colorful offerings on display. So why not a higher rating? So many reasons. Here we go: lack of helpful sales persons, lack of staff at registers, long lines if you dare to want to try on anything, color-coded clearance tags with no explanation of what they mean, lots of sale signs that indicate if you have their credit card or already subscribe to their emails, maybe you'll be eligible for a sale. Then half the shoppers in line get to the register and find out their coupon code doesn't apply or it isn't valid or the clerk can't find anything about it. Made me feel disgusted to see the runaround that consumers experience. The promise of a good deal lures them in, they wait in long lines, get little to no acceptance of coupons and by then they're so exhausted they just say oh well and buy stuff anyway. Smart on Belk, however I will probably not be shopping here anymore. It just isn't worth the hassle of "what about this code? this coupon? what do you mean the tag was accidentally the wrong color?" etc. Not how I want to shop. Also of note, if you buy something good here, it must be returned here, not at the Belk Market location, so keep that in mind. The pros: A good selection of merchandise. Handicapped accessibility is excellent, including an automatic door.
