The prices are high and the offers are low. They have tons of materials to choose from, but you'll pay damn near retail.

Have price books is always great. And their staff is extremely nice.Patient, helpful and dwell informed. And even when they're not super acquainted with my niche , annoying questions , they take the time. I've sold there several times which helps to declutter if I can resist replacing every single book I sell with more. At least if I spend every dollar I get selling on more books. It'll be fewer books overall🤣😅 i don't want to speak against book people. Because they have great things and Austin is a great brick and mortar book town in general, but when I was there recently, it was November barely past Halloween, and their prices were as phrenomical for the holidays. At\nHalf price books, just yesterday.Everything seemed priced.Give or take the usual range , which is good , very good. And they have some pretty cool new stuff that places like book people don't have. They reserve a lot of space for sheet, music, notebooks, guided notebooks and gifts. But not to the point of excess, where it infringes upon their books selection, which is excellent and they'll always help you order a book from another location when possible, which it almost always is. I want to sell books at the last second before closing yesterday and needed some books for my Italian tutoring work. They have numerous proper textbooks for well under $20, the most expensive being $28. And\nOther niche books in foreign language section among others.I like the clarence section not only for the one dollar prices but because I found the nineties book snaps , which got me in trouble in fourth grade and is basically "yo mama" jokes etc... Think 1992 or so🤣 it lives in my bathroom and my russian friend thought it was actually modern ethnic lane , which I told him it was not by thirty plus years. "You're so skinny, you can hula hoop in a cheerio!" I can't remember what other random awesome finds i've had there but they definitely exist and are very numerous. I always go to Lamar in Kenya, but one time I went north by Research Boulevard and found Eldridge Cleaver's Soul on Ice, gr8 🇷🇺 self-teaching books & some other really niche stuff like Babysitters Club tote bags for more than I wanted to pay, but full of nostalgia if I'm gonna totally date myself...#KristysGreatIdea #1stChapterBooksEver in an age where the big box bookstores have gone to hell in a handbasket, sorry to say, it's nice that you can ask questions and get real answers, plus they support local authors by stocking/selling their work, even if it's self-published, I believe, and they do some kind of consignment agreement w/local authors. Oh yeah, honorable mention big time.Is the sheet music to my favorite musical ever Hair. I had bought a way more expensive copy from the play's revival, circa 2008, which lacked tons of songs from the full soundtrack and the version I found at half price books, which was all of $6, has everything, and then some, I swear I don't think there's a single track, missing that I like, and they have the correct version of the Song easy to be hard. Oh yeah, and they'll hold books for you for several days. Up to 5. End, their foreign language section doesn't just have DIY teacherself stuff. It has a decent selection of novels and story collections , et cetera for true speakers of those languages and not just a decent spanish selection. I've spied purchased italian books to read and college like one that I can't stand and don't ever wanna read again for some reason. My only regret is not getting "Gomorrah" about the Neapolitan Camorrah mob and based on true accounts from a journalist native to the area who's been in hiding with 7+ bodyguards at all times since exposing them. Gr8 2015 film adaptation FYI. So yeah, support this store. It's brick & mortar, affordable, old-school and you can declutter your existing book overload by selling them used stuff while pocketing a little cash or investing in some new books and not supporting the antichrist Jeff Bezos. Employees that have books reminds me why robot slave employees shouldn't exist in certain places! Ideally none🤷‍♀️
