I want to shop here for all my uh ting stuff but often you guys don’t carry what I need when other big stores do. I would love to be able to buy a pulsar krypton 2 xg50 thermal. I believe they would sell faster than just a thermal scoops due to how they are set up. You can switch them from one rifle to next easily and they fit on your scope. You are able to use your scope with the krypton

Not from the area and decided to visit on our vacation. When we walked in, the lady at the table with the coolers made a rude comment. She told my husband, your skin looks burned even on a cold day. He has a skin condition he is embarrassed about and he felt awful she made the comment. Not a great impression

Cabelas lost $6475 from me in the last year on 3 purchases. In April went in to buy 2 fishing kayaks, simple question was if they come in different colors as we were looking at the Ascent fishing kayaks. Was told that the camping section handles that and they would get someone to help us, help never came. Even went to camping section to ask and was told that the manager handles kayaks and would be right down. Went to Scheels got the kayaks, life, vests, paddles spent almost $3500. September wanted to use a $100 gift card I had and get a Yeti Tundra 75, only had white on the floor I wanted tan asked if they had it in back as it showed online that tan was in stock at the store. Guy disappears to go look never returned, went to Academy and got it $450. Finally last week went to buy a Beretta A400 Xtreme, it wasn't busy at all and a bunch of employees hanging out behind the counter, asked a simple question of what chokes come with the A400 in the box. Was told "Im not the shotgun guy, Im the tactical guy, Ill send him down". over 20 minutes of standing there not one person came down to help or even ask if I needed anything. Bought it at Scheels $2099. The employees just don't seem to give a damn about customers at Cabelas, Scheels isn't always cheaper but at least you can get employee assistance when you're there.

My nephew visited a Santa at this store and is now worried he won't get any Christmas gifts because that Santa spent the whole time trying to convert my son to his own personal religion rather than talk about what my nephew wanted for Christmas. Incredibly inappropriate behavior. This guy has got to go!!!

This place isn’t just a store, it’s a cathedral for people who believe that civilization is something you occasionally escape, preferably with a rifle, a bow, or at least a cooler big enough to hide a body-sized brisket. You walk in and the air changes. It smells like leather, cedar, adrenaline, and the distant memory of rain on pine. Taxidermy greets you like stoic doormen — elk, bear, whitetail — posed as if to say, this could be you if you don’t buy the right gear. The gun counter is its own little nation; glass cases filled with steel and promise, clerks who talk about ballistics like sommeliers describing tannins. You learn about trigger travel, grain weights, and the poetry of clean shot placement. Nobody here is trying to sell you anything… they’re trying to convert you. Then there are the boots. Racks of them. Insulated, snake-proof, waterproof, all engineered for every environment from Texas mud to Alaskan regret. Try on a pair and suddenly you find yourself fantasizing about stalking hogs at dawn or hiking mountains you will absolutely never climb. The camping aisles are dangerous in the best way. Freeze-dried meals that swear they taste like bourbon-glazed beef, tents that could survive a biblical flood, knives so sharp they feel illegal. You don’t need half of it. You want all of it. But the gem is the aquarium and wildlife displays…kids staring wide-eyed, adults pretending they’re not impressed. A reminder that your primal side isn’t dead, it’s just indoors too often. Service here is surprisingly humble. The staff seems to actually use the gear they sell, and talk hunting stories, scouting spots, or the ethics of field dressing without sounding like caricatures. Five stars because Cabela’s isn’t retail, it’s escapism for people who secretly wish they lived closer to the edge. You leave lighter in the wallet, heavier with gear, and convinced you might actually survive outdoors if society collapses.
