About

Thrift Store
The vision of our 501(c3) nonprofit organization is that ALL people have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential through the power of work.Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is based in Nashville, Tenn. The agency serves 48 counties throughout Middle and West Tennessee, operating 30 retail stores and two outlet stores, about 53 Donation Express Centers and 13 Career Solutions Centers. The nonprofit is one of Tennessee’s largest employers of people with disabilities with more than 45 percent of our workforce reporting some type of disability or disadvantage. Although affiliated with Goodwill Industries International in Rockville, Md., we operate independently through our own governing board of directors. Goodwill accepts gently-used items that donors no longer want, need or use. Those items are sold either in our retail stores or online at onlinegoodwill.com. Revenue from the sale of donated goods helps fund job training services and programs provided by Goodwill Career Solutions. In addition to retail sales, Goodwill depends on several other revenue sources, including state and local grants.

Loved finding great clothes but felt the pricing was a bit high considering everythings used basically or donated...if I wanted to pay full pricebor near full pricebI would be at the retail stores like Marshalls ,JC Penny to name a couple that is always having great sales.Good will should consider this and take a poll on how the customers feel about how it is run and pricing and such you know just for a fun survey.I always love finding little wts at various stores.

Just had an experience in this goodwil location that I’ve never had in any other location. My mother and I were just casually shopping around looking for nothing in particular. I saw a shirt on the new rack that had an interesting design, wasn’t going to get it just show it to my mother. Next thing I know a male employee buts roughly in front of my cart and stretches his arms all the way across the new rack - which I’ve never even seen a goodwill employee do before. The next thing I know he is incredibly rude and absolutely blows his top at my mother as she just asks him what’s going on. Disgusted and embarrassed my mother spoke to the manager. Apparently this store has a policy where customers cannot look at new racks. My mother explains that she understands if the store has a policy but there is a bad way to handle things and a much more kinder route. Obviously this was the done the bad way as it is the reason I am writing this review now. Personally, I think the policy is a little silly and I’ve seen no other goodwill implement it. Got a new rack, just roll it out, let people pick what they want and then put away what is left. Saves work putting clothes etc up. Or if the store really wants people to stay away, put a sign on each one. An employee that is rude and makes a scene drives people from your store - people like my mother and I who will not be back. Now I will only visit Shelbyville for antique stores who are run by very kind and friendly people. We will be skipping this goodwill for now on.
