The vision of our 501(c3) nonprofit organization is that ALL people have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential through the power of work.Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is based in Nashville, Tenn. The agency serves 48 counties throughout Middle and West Tennessee, operating 30 retail stores and two outlet stores, about 53 Donation Express Centers and 13 Career Solutions Centers. The nonprofit is one of Tennessee’s largest employers of people with disabilities with more than 45 percent of our workforce reporting some type of disability or disadvantage. Although affiliated with Goodwill Industries International in Rockville, Md., we operate independently through our own governing board of directors. Goodwill accepts gently-used items that donors no longer want, need or use. Those items are sold either in our retail stores or online at onlinegoodwill.com. Revenue from the sale of donated goods helps fund job training services and programs provided by Goodwill Career Solutions. In addition to retail sales, Goodwill depends on several other revenue sources, including state and local grants.
Numerous customers reported rude and unhelpful behavior from staff, particularly during donation drop-offs and at checkout.

Several times I have dropped off items to donate and the staff to collect the items are very rude. Will not be donating anymore until customer service has improved.

Will not be returning to this location, after alot of thought about this I decided to that today would be my last time shopping at this location due to feeling extremely uncomfortable by the staff and their actions. I am a new mom and to save money I usually go to goodwill to find clothes for me and my son. Because he is a baby I push him around in his stroller and use the under part or other parts of the stroller to hold the things I want to get. Before pregnancy I wouldn’t try on clothes usually but now that I’m postpartum I have to because I care more about how things fit. I know goodwill does not allow carts in the dressing rooms but because my son is in the stroller I bring him in with me, but I only get 6 items at a time to try on.if I like it I take it off the hanger and put it in a different part of the stroller in order to separate everything. Today I noticed several times employees watching me and it started to make me feel like they thought I was trying to steal. Every time I’d go to a different part in the store I was followed by the same two people. At the end of my trip I will take everything out and check everywhere on the stoller to make sure I’m not missing anything. As I’m checking out i noticed that the cashier called over a manager and she watched me the entire time. Not only that but the cashier wouldn’t let me use tap to pay, saying my total was to high so I have to insert my card. That’s not that big of a deal to me but I’ve never experienced that from a goodwill before. I understand people do steal but it just made me feel uncomfortable, and the looks I received made me feel like I was doing something wrong by just trying to make things easy for myself. Shopping with a baby isn’t easy and I’m not going to leave my son outside of a dressing room unattended. Apart from this experience today the staff at this location is usually rude and gives a lot of attitude.

1) The employees are really nice and hard working. They’re always buzzing about like busy little bees.
2) This particular Goodwill gets picked over by resellers, so it can be had to find things some days.
3) The items are sometimes way, way overpriced even more than purchasing new. I know this because sometimes the retail tags are still attached. They get this stuff for free. A used garbage can should not be $40. A busted lamp shouldn’t be $15.
4) They pull upcoming color tags off the shelves and racks prior to change. You can go in towards the end of the week and see them pulling particular colors. I have gone in on the color changeover day (Sunday), and there was not one sale color in the row of clothes that I was looking through.
5) The donation process is weird. I bought some fan blades from this store that unfortunately didn’t work for me. I went to donate them at this same store later with some other things and was told that they can’t accept the fan blades. They were still wrapped with the Goodwill price tag. After advising I just bought them from this store within the last few weeks, they finally took them.
6) Sometimes the line is to the back of the store before anyone calls for another register to open.

Lower your prices. Just lower them. Donated used items selling at higher prices than at new retail. You guys ARE going to go out of business... Don't you understand this? It's basic math, and do not speak to me about all the good you do. If I gave a donation, AT LEAST I WOULD GET A TAX DONATION. Y'all just need to do better while you still have a chance.
