This review will sound like an echo of 1 star reviews, but I gave a 3 star because that's fair. Today, I entered the store, knowing exactly which firearm I was coming to purchase and at what price. Robert was the store associate that was assisting me. I show him the firearm on my phone. He searches the case for 5 minutes before pointing out another gun that was an old version of the one I came for. I told him several times that this was the incorrect pistol; however he insisted that it was the correct one. I told him to compare the SKU online to the one identified in the case. As expected, It was not the same firearm. He says, "Well, I don't see it in the case. I dont know if we have it." The correct answer should have been, "I dont see it in the case. Let me check our inventory." Well, I told Robert that their website says that this store has it in stock. He finally finds it and brings it to the counter and we begin completing paperwork. Throughout this entire 30-45 min interaction. Robert offers not one smile, no small talk, or friendly conversation. He is short, silent, and has a flat affect. I assume Robert is just having a bad day.. Until a coworker comes over to joke with him. Now he is smiling, now he is pleasant, now he is holding conversation. That coworker leaves, its back to silence. After the paperwork is finished, I go home and discover that there is a trigger lock on the gun. I primarily purchase from Academy and haven't encountered this before. I returned to the store and request that the manager remove it because I no longer want Robert's assistance. They inform me that there was a trigger lock key in the box. Well, Mr. Robert did not disclose this information, causing an inconvenience. Every other associate that I encountered today was pleasant and personable, which is why I opted for 3/5 versus 1/5 stars. Considering the nature of purchasing firearms, at the very least, good customer service should be a requirement. My transaction was awkward and painfully long because it felt like I was more of an inconvenience than a paying customer. I only came here because the gun was $30 cheaper than surrounding stores. It is not likely that I will return here to save $30. I would rather pay $30 more for a pleasant firearm purchasing experience. Also, there are 2 Roberts that work this store, as explained by the associate at the return counter. This man was heavy set, wore glasses, and had shorter hair; hopefully this review wont reflect on the pleasant Robert.
