The vision of our 501(c3) nonprofit organization is that ALL people have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential through the power of work.Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is based in Nashville, Tenn. The agency serves 48 counties throughout Middle and West Tennessee, operating 30 retail stores and two outlet stores, about 53 Donation Express Centers and 13 Career Solutions Centers. The nonprofit is one of Tennessee’s largest employers of people with disabilities with more than 45 percent of our workforce reporting some type of disability or disadvantage. Although affiliated with Goodwill Industries International in Rockville, Md., we operate independently through our own governing board of directors. Goodwill accepts gently-used items that donors no longer want, need or use. Those items are sold either in our retail stores or online at onlinegoodwill.com. Revenue from the sale of donated goods helps fund job training services and programs provided by Goodwill Career Solutions. In addition to retail sales, Goodwill depends on several other revenue sources, including state and local grants.
The store is generally reported as clean and well-organized, although some customers noted areas that were messy or disorganized.
Customer Service
While many customers praised the friendliness of the staff, there were several complaints about rude cashiers and poor customer interactions.
Pricing
Customers expressed frustration over rising prices, with many feeling that items were overpriced given that they are donated goods.
Selection
The store offers a large selection of items, but some customers found the organization of clothing and other goods to be lacking, making shopping difficult.
Checkout Experience
Long lines and slow checkout processes were frequently mentioned, with some customers noting that staffing issues contributed to delays.

A shirt I picked up had bodily fluids dried on it. I've been to a lot of Goodwill stores and that's the nastiest thing I've seen at one. Staff were laughing about it on my way out.

Well-organized store with a huge selection (by color and item, a system used by some Goodwills). While the only staff member I interacted with was the cashier, that individual was very friendly. I will return the next time I am in the area.

Best Goodwill I have been to by a landslide. Really great layout and there are fitting rooms! I found two great pieces. Staff were actively keeping the racks stocked and there was a really lovely lady on the changing rooms. Very kind and appreciated.

I've been going to this goodwill for 15 +years. I usually don't get a cart because it's a hassle,,so when I find things I like I put them in my bag so I don't have to carry them around and when I'm done shopping I pay for my items in my bag. I've never had any trouble from any of the staff there,,but Saturday August the 30th 2025 around 1130 in the morning i was surprised that a older lady with short Grey and black hair and she wore glasses ,she said to me what are you doing carrying our merchandise in your bag!!!!I said excuse me,she repeated herself, what are doing carrying our merchandise in your bag!!I said mam this is how I shop and how I've always shopped i don't like to push the big buggy around 😉 she walked off mumbling something, I couldn't make out what she said. Anyway I was so embarrassed that she would approach me saying why am I carrying around their merchandise in my bag. And mind you goodwill don't give you bags anymore after you pay for your items. So I was just baffled that that lady approached me in that manner. But I'm not gonna let this incident stop me from shopping at goodwill,,but that lady should to be retrained. Your not supposed to approach customers in that manner,,as if I wasn't gonna pay for my items.
